Quick Overview

This exciting new wine – LDR stands for Light Dry Red – is a 51/49 blend of pinot noir from the high altitude Primavera vineyard with shiraz/syrah from the Sexton vineyard. The inspiration is Beaujolais, with a nod to the Hunter.

You could guzzle this. It’d be pretty sophisticated guzzling, admittedly, but the freshness and flow of it almost begs you to dive in for more. It’s all fruit, spice and nuts, a sweetness to the fruit and a smoky/clovey character to the spice, some reduction working in the wine’s favour too. Tip top, bang on, recommended, no hesitation. Product Description

Natural winemaking philosophy, while making quality the priority. Minimal intervention in the vineyard and 100% hand-picked. Fermented in small open open oak vats and stainless steel fermenters using indigenous yeasts. Fermented with very little cap work - a real focus on carbonic maceration. 100% malolactic fermentation. Seven months in seasoned French oak vats only.

2017 really was a sensational vintage! Good intermittent rainfall with cool to mild temperatures, and not a day over 40 degrees during the summer months marked 2017 out as a classic cool climate vintage. All varieties came in later than average, ripening at an unhurried pace in these ideal growing conditions, producing wines of incredible structure, detail and length.

"I had lunch at Giant Steps recently and although things have changed since I last visited it’s still as good or better than ever. A total gem of a place – I just wish I lived closer.
