This Provence has good depth of flavour, richness and the finish has harmony and persistence. This is smoking Chardonnay, and a little smoky with it too. The struck match, almond, nectarine and citrus leads the way, then into a palate that’s singing in clear voice. Flinty, bright, juicy, almond and stuck match – finesse and power – crunch of green pear and grapefruit to close. Oak lends some spice and structural scaffolding, but feels a minor player. Mike Bennie 94 Points The Wine Front, 27 February 2018Spice, nougat, whiff of sea spray, lemon and green apple – a good start right here. Poise and precision, rush of flinty mineral charm, lean grapefruity tang, so much going on in such a compact whoosh of chardonnay. There’s inherent grape character interred in layers of spice, light saline character and a kiss of sweet oak spice. Just so. Delicious too. Superb stuff. Learn More

Barossa Shiraz. Hard to go wrong, and you certainly won’t here. This is an amazingly good buying/drinking option. So dark, so supple, so polished. Boom, as the wannabe cool kids say. Violet, clove, plum and sweet spice. The bounce of boysenberry. Sweet fruit galore. It’s not overly dark in colour terms but it tastes like ink, if that makes sense. It feels good in the mouth but it also feels ready to explode. When people ask me What’s A Good Shiraz? This is now my recommendation." Rated : 92 Points Winefront.com.au Learn More

Jack's is a terrific success and a cracking value. It has all the wonderful, fleshy texture and fine tannins that you expect of Greenock and the balance between the wine's sweet fruit and savoury components is exemplary. Wild aromas of mulberry, wood spice, dark cherry and mocha is super attractive and leads to a palate with a surprisingly deep, velvety texture - typical of a low yielding Greenock vintage. The wines seem a little more cloudy, but fine, as an observation. Raspberry rope, rhubarb and ginger and assorted exotic spices, new leather and floral perfume. These ripe black fruit flavours continue to the powerfully flavoured full-bodied palate. Driven by intense fruit purity, the palate is complimented with subtle oak barrel characters. This wine is a delightful purple red colour. The nose is fabulous, dark plums, blackberries, blueberries, with a slight dusting of icing sugar, exotic spices, and a savoury earthiness all mingled together. The palate is not a let down it's absolutely delicious, that plummy blackberry fruit, mingled with dark raspberries, pure fruited, long and lively. There';s a lot to admire with Hoddles Creek Estate and the decision to employ no new oak on the grapes destined for this 1er release is one of them. This is swish. Straw-yellow in colour, stone fruit riddled, shy on the nose but textural and alive on the palate. A gentle creaminess, spice notes, slate even, honeysuckle and toast. Extremely pure. Flowing robes of flavour. Grapefruit-like bite to the aftertaste, as a distinct positive. It's still gathering itself but already it's a treat to drink. A beautiful, beauti Learn More

It's pretty much as you'd expect and hope; no better, no worse. Everything is in good sound order but at the same time; no mean feat; it offers a pile of personality. Bunchy herb notes, black cherry, svelte mouthfeel, peppercorns and florals. Heaps going on and yet it feels seamless. The finish isn't scintillating, in terms of length, but it's well and truly satisfying. It's in a good place. It's a very good wine. Impeccable, really. My score kept increasing the longer I sat with it, and this note probably reflects that. Learn More

The Sexton chardonnay vineyard was planted in 1997. It's at Gruyere in the lower valley. It turns out terrific chardonnay. This is rich, fine, seamless, quartz-like. 2017 was a beautifully medium-bodied season in Hilltops, giving birth to a wine that captures the fragrant and spicy personality of shiraz with great detail. It entices with rose hip and white pepper over a core of red cherries and greengage plums but it’s the lingering finish that really sets it apart, structured with magnificent, finely textured tannins. Bondar's sophomore Fiano release is again sourced from Ben Lacey's vineyard in Seaview (McLaren Vale). The vines are 6-years-old, grafted onto 25-year-old Chardonnay rootstocks rooted in shallow dark Biscay clay over limestone. Lightly whole bunch pressed, the lion's share went into a single ceramic egg and a small stainless tank for (natural) fermentation. One small bin (around 500 kg) was kept separate for fermentation on its skins. The finished wines remained on lees, unsulphured until June, and then the three parcels were blended to create this small batch release. Learn More
