The 2008 growing season started quite cool and damp and by November we were heading into a great Margaret River summer. Yields of Shiraz were a touch lower than normal, averaging five tonnes per Hectare and we saw a lovely tannin ripeness develop very early on. This set the scene for the Shiraz to be harvested during the last week of March. The season has delivered exceptional Shiraz with a perfumed bouquet, ripe flavours and fine grained, layered tannins.
A classic style of Margaret River Shiraz exhibiting intense colour, memorable perfume and structure. The nose and palate are here are tremendous, Fresh blueberry, blackberry and liquorice intertwine with hints of spice and cedary oak, complemented by long, mature and integrated tannins. To accompany richer red meat dishes such as lamb shank or venison, which would match beautifully with the lifted spice and defined tannin structure. This impressive wine continues the evolution of Shiraz in Margaret River and at Voyager Estate.
