Quick Overview

....... Very clean, with fine-grained, powdery tannins. A precision wine, which drinks superbly now and will age very well. The extra age before release is a bonus." Rating: 97 points. Huon Hooke,

... tannins and fruit, working seamlessly together; the length of flavour is nothing short of staggering, and while a joy to drink as a young wine, patient cellaring will be well rewarded." Rating: 96 points. James Halliday

Product Description

The season has produced a wonderfully aromatic wine with a bouqet of cassis, violets and dark fruits. The palate reveals intense dark berries with a rich and lush mouthfeel. The tannins are fine, soft and beautifully intergrated with the high quality French oak providing great definition and structure. The 2005 vintage has produced a generous soft wine with fleshy, sweet fruit flavours displaying classic cabernet varietal character. Love the smell of it - blackcurrant, red berries, liquorice and chocolate with a leafy tobacco perfume. Oak lives here too, but it's an unobtrusive and welcome guest - just the gentle scent of vanilla and wood spice. It's medium bodied, smooth and seamless with clean fresh acidity and exemplary length. Rich, yet discreet and refined - it's typical of the best wines from this classy Margaret River vintage.

Our 33-year-old Old Block and our younger “shining star” North Block, in particular, produce amazing Cabernet Sauvignon fruit. Fruit from these vineyards form the core of the Voyager Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot and are no doubt responsible for this wine’s heritage and consistency.

A perfumed bouquet of cassis, blackcurrants and violets on the nose, supported by layered chocolate mocha and cedary notes. The palate displays sweet dark and red fruits, supported by fine, layered tannins with seamlessly integrated French oak. The wine is rich and concentrated with great length and impeccable balance.

"Deep-ish red-purple: excellent hue and freshness for its age at four years. Brilliantly intense, expressive bouquet of violets, cassis and blackberry, with crushed-leaf and nori/seaweed regional inflexions. Outstanding elegance and flavour: intensity combined with refinement. Very clean, with fine-grained, powdery tannins. A precision wine, which drinks superbly now and will age very well. The extra age before release is a bonus." Rating: 97 points.
Huon Hooke,

"Deep garnet; a complex array of aromas from cedar, cassis, cigar box and a touch of leafy interest; the palate is full bodied, fine and poised with polished tannins and fruit, working seamlessly together; the length of flavour is nothing short of staggering, and while a joy to drink as a young wine, patient cellaring will be well rewarded." Rating: 96 points. James Halliday, James Halliday Australian Wine Companion, 2013 Edition
