JM 1ST APPROACH

The colour is deep red. The palate is full and complex, medium bodied. The wine is elegant and distinctive, displaying characters of berry fruit and plumb, accompanied by cherry spice characters. Supported by spicy oak complexity the tannins are balanced and complement the mouthfilling flavour. The wine has great vibrancy and poise which are evident on the long seamless finish.

The 2010 Shotfire Quartage has a lifted aroma of blackcurrant, cedar, spice and subtle violets. The palate is medium to full bodied in weight and displays cassis characters. The wine has long silky tannins that are to be expected from wines made in the vain of a Bordeaux blend.

James Halliday, September 2012 -94 Points - Good purple-crimson; as is so often the case, defies commonly accepted views about the Barossa’s (ie including Eden Valley) ability to produce high quality examples of a Bordeaux blend; there is an invigorating freshness and lightness of touch to this berry-fruited wine that draws it through to a long, lingering finish.

Pungent aromas of cherry compote, blueberry and licorice, with tobacco and medicinal herb nuances gaining strength with air. Juicy and penetrating, offering intense dark fruit flavours and bright floral and spice qualities. Dusty tannins add grip to a long, spice-dominated finish, which features a subtle vanilla note.
