Precision, purity and persistence are the three P's that define this classy riesling; hand-picked, but we don't know whether it was whole bunch pressed or not, arguably irrelevant detail anyway.
It is flooded with zesty lemon and lime flavours on the long palate, acidity just as it should be.

"We have long loved the more crystalline expression of Clare riesling, and therefore sourced fruit which we had handpicked from the Faulkner and Sandow family vineyards. 80% of the blend is from Faulkner which is situated in the high Eastern Hills in Penwortham at about 480 meters above sea level, and Sandow is situated on the Mintaro to Leasingham rd. A very aggressive press cut was made to retain only the most delicate free run juice, resulting in less than 430 litres per tonne. Ferments were inoculated, and kept cool to preserve freshness. Cold stabilised, then bottled, very classic old school winemaking with the aim of making a bone dry, slatey, and fine style."

Bright straw-green; the vintage caused issues for riesling here and there in the Clare Valley, but not for this lovely wine; citrus blossom and crushed leaf aromas lead into
a relatively full-flavoured palate, which doesn't lose focus on the finish, sustained by crisp minerally/citrussy acidity.

Off-dry riesling in Australia is a good idea as a side project but it rarely reaches the quality heights of the dry stuff. This wine issues a challenge to that notion.
It has excellent intensity of pear, apple and lime flavour, with a bath salt/talc-like textural element to the finish.
Sweetness is a player but it’s secondary to the quality and finish of the fruit. 93 points Winefront.com.au

The Adelaide Hills is one of those regions, much like the Yarra Valley, that has a bit of a go at growing everything. Riesling maybe a little more successful in the Adelaide Hills than the Yarra though, perhaps.
It’s a nice change of pace from your usual Clare or Eden Valley style: a little softer, more floral and come-hither. Ruby red grapefruit, slight pepper and herbal seasoning, ginger and green apple. Gentle chalkiness, delicacy and refreshment at every turn, with a clean finish of excellent length.
You’d be hard pressed not to like this. 93 points Winefront.com.au

Ripping release. Lime, ginger, dash of pepper, show in big vibrant hit of citrussy fruit scents. It’s racy, ultra lean and tight to taste, but a mouthwatering succulence pulls the wine out of austerity and the light chalky buzz through the finish sets the wine to a higher class. It’s delicious. There’s more citrus, more green apple crispness and a fine etching of sherbetty acidity. Refreshing to the max, with panache.

"The potency of these wines to develop gracefully over time is a feature, as is their complexity with maturity. World class - combines floral, stone fruit and citrus flavours." Robert Geddes, Master of Wine, Author, Australian Wine Vintages
Freycinet is quite a remarkable winery. Hit after hit.  This has body and complexity but it's the length through the finish that really impresses. It tastes of green herbs, red apples, grapefruit and spice and even in its youth it keeps you dodging and weaving to catch all that's going on. 94 points Winefront.com.au

Pale, almost clear, with vivid green highlights.  The nose is very fresh and restrained, tending towards citrus with subtle floral notes. The palate is elegant and pure, offering glimpses of its potential, with a core of delicate citrus flavours and beautiful mineral acidity.

" ...Vanilla and aniseed perfume, lime, slaty Eden things. Light bodied, slippery and flinty at once, with a smooth delivery of juicy lime and almost white peachy flavour, then it trims down and pulls flinty and chalky on the finish, though the blessing of ample fruit sweetness is the final impression.
Seasonal drinking made simple. And inexpensive." 93 points Winefront.com.au
