  1. O'Leary Walker Watervale Riesling 2013

    O'Leary Walker Watervale Riesling 2013

O’Leary Walker is a key name of Australian riesling, in my books. Pretty much as good as anyone. Absolute purity and precision. Lime juice, lime rind and bath salts. Hits the mark up-front and surges straight on with it. If I was looking to drink a young riesling and I saw this, I wouldn’t hesitate. Pulses through the finish. Can’t ask for much more. 93 points Winefront.com.au

  2. O'Leary Walker Polish Hill River Riesling 2013

O'Leary Walker Polish Hill River Riesling 2013

If you’re a riesling drinker, I’d suggest this release from the famed Polish Hill River sub-region of the Clare Valley is a wine you should be buying/drinking. I like everything about this wine. It’s pure lime and slate and it’s both up-front and reserved at once. It gives but it keeps some for Ron. It’s intense through the finish yet it feels watery and refreshing through the centre. It’s beautiful drinking. For now or later. As a matter of fact … 94 points Winefront.com.au

  3. Mesh Eden Valley Riesling 2013

    Mesh Eden Valley Riesling 2013
    $26.99

Limes, lemon and orange rind. Slatey and coiled but the acidity isn’t at all harsh. Rather it has great depth. A hint of fennel bulb with a tingling bath salt epilogue. There is a quiet yet unnerving persistence and drive which should see it age well. 93+ points Wine Will Eat Itself

As much about texture as it is about flavour; though it lacks none of the latter. Apple, mandarin and lime notes with a slip of sweetness; it feels easy-going and delicious for the most part but then thrusts dry, complex flavour out through the finish, like a twist in the tale. All the while, it feels velvety on your tongue.

Flowery apple and lemon blossom aromas lead into a fresh, crisp palate still to break into song, which it will do down the track a year or two. 92 points James Halliday

  3. West Cape Howe Great Southern Riesling 2014

West Cape Howe Great Southern Riesling 2014

“Sourced from Block 6 of the Langton Vineyard, picked over a period of weeks. Everything about the wine screams quality, and puts beyond doubt the ability of Great Southern to produce superb riesling when made with the skill evident here; intense varietal citrus blossom aromas and flavours, the acidity a strand of stainless steel wire running through and providing the structure for the endless finish.”

Bright straw-green; the vintage caused issues for riesling here and there in the Clare Valley, but not for this lovely wine; citrus blossom and crushed leaf aromas lead into
a relatively full-flavoured palate, which doesn't lose focus on the finish, sustained by crisp minerally/citrussy acidity.

Bright and quite piercing aromatics - there's a Polish Hilll esque musk grapefruit nose that is piercing and intense, if deliciously floral. Rapacious acid even. Palate is long, angular and super dry, the acid cutting into your tongue but also backed by serious fruit power. The acid is just a fraction bracing, but no doubting the length or penetration.

James Halliday - Published on 15 Jan 2014
Pale straw-green, this is a first-class Riesling with a highly fragrant, blossom-filled bouquet and chock-full of sweet lime juice fruit on the mid-palate before minerally acidity drives through on the long, lingering dry finish. Rating; 96 points
