Quick Overview

Mighty good chardonnay to be sitting just below the famous Art Series. A slightly more restrained expression than some previous wines. It has a refreshing purity and liveliness, with plenty of grapefruit and lightly charry oak. A creamy cashew touch adds some smooth texture into the middle palate. The West Australian, August 2017

Campbell Mattinson 92 Points

It’s pure chardonnay. It’s sunny, it’s flavoursome, it’s splashed with an appropriate level of oak and it remains fresh/frisky through the finish. Indeed there’s almost a steeliness to this, and certainly a citrussy element, but it comes in the context of a wave of stonefruit and sweet, cedary flavour. Chardonnay 101, done well. Now or later. The Wine Front, 15 June 2017

Product Description

A youthful and expressive nose that features pears, white nectarines and lime flesh. Higher notes of jasmine and frangipani provide lift, fragrance and energy. Beneath lies a myriad of toasted sesame, vanilla pod, cinnamon quill and cardamom. A tight, seamless and elegant palate highlighted with figs, quince and lemon skin opens towards a delicately textured and contoured mid palate. Blanched almonds and hazelnuts weave through the primary fruits and textural layers, leading to a long and defined finish.

"Cut limes, ripe Nashi pears and white peaches greet the nose, amidst aromas of fresh nougat, honeycomb, brioche and rice wafers. Savoury lemon rind, figs and quince create complexity, while oak derived toasted hazelnuts and cinnamon spice is diligently incorporated to enhance the balance. The palate is tight and defined, characterised by fresh lime, white nectarine and pears. Luscious texture delivers balanced depth and breadth to the palate. Oatmeal, nutmeg and subtle oak char lie in the background, with all components brought together with a taut and refreshing acid line." - Leeuwin Estate.

An excellent Prelude of poise and balance, capturing the gravitas of this great chardonnay estate at an accessible point. A wine of detail, complexity, richness and focus, seamlessly melding fig, white peach and cashew nut French oak (one-third new) with well focused grapefruit acidity. It will benefit from a few more months for oak to fully integrate on the finish,
