Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay 2012

Regular Price: $100.00

Special Price: $96.00

As low as: $89.99

"94+ Points. I reckon I’ve tasted every vintage of Leeuwin Art Series Chardonnay on release since 1992, so this brings me up to 21 vintages. I’m an adult now. I like this a little more than the 2011.
Hazelnut, pear, melon, toast and clove spiced wood. Full bodied, toasty savoury wood plays a leading role in the flavour profile, though of course there’s the typical Leeuwin fruit power to go with it. Pear and lime in the mix, silky honeyed texture, then a little crunch of tannin on the finish. Great length. Has complexity already as a young wine, but really needs a few years to settle down and mesh, at which point it will almost certainly rate a little higher. Tasted: Mar15 Alcohol: 14% Price: $99 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2018 - 2025+"- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front. 94+ points

Out of stock

....A tight, seamless and elegant palate highlighted with figs, quince and lemon skin opens towards a delicately textured and contoured mid palate. Blanched almonds and hazelnuts weave through the primary fruits and textural layers, leading to a long and defined finish.
94 Points. An excellent Prelude of poise and balance, capturing the gravitas of this great chardonnay estate at an accessible point. A wine of detail, complexity, richness and focus, seamlessly melding fig, white peach and cashew nut French oak (one-third new) with well focused grapefruit acidity. It will benefit from a few more months for oak to fully integrate on the finish, and should be spot on just in time for its release in October 2014.”

Mike Press Chardonnay 2015

Regular Price: $12.00

Special Price: $11.00

The single vineyard in question surrounds Mike Press’s house. Light straw-green; the wine has immaculate varietal expression on the bouquet, and intense fruit on the palate, with white flesh stone fruit given length and balance by grapefruit acidity on the finish. 91 points James Halliday

Ministry of Clouds Tasmania Chardonnay 2013

Regular Price: $45.00

Special Price: $43.50

As low as: $40.00

The grapes for this wine came from Michael Vischacki's Panorama Vineyard in the Huon Valley, and the Ellis family's Meadowbank Vineyard in the Derwent Valley; whole bunch-pressed direct to used French oak for wild yeast fermentation and maturation.
Its delicacy and immaculate balance are deceptive, for the white peach and creamy/nutty fruit flavours have great length. 96 points James Halliday

Pike & Joyce Sirocco Chardonnay 2014

Regular Price: $30.00

Special Price: $27.50

As low as: $26.00

Medium to pale green, straw tints, understated yet complex at the same time, this wine displays typical white peach, grapefruit and creamy characters with hints of struck match, char and hazelnut in the background. The medium weight palate delivers white peach, hazelnut and cream with well balanced acidity and a little texture giving the wine line and length. Tight, but gorgeous!

Shaw and Smith M3 Chardonnay 2013

Regular Price: $48.00

Special Price: $46.50

As low as: $44.00

96 points  The grapes come from the exceptional estate vineyards at Lenswood, Lobethal, and Woodside, and the wine has always been known for its complexity, part due (although you mightn’t realize) to its use of MLF; fermentation in a cool, largely underground, cellar is another part of the explanation for the unfailing ability of the wine to deliver the goods.

This is a serious style of sparkling with a straw, meringue bouquet, and a deep palate which betrays a hint of barrel ageing and packs a definite grip on the back palate. Its quite a powerful sparkling, and could easily handle hearty poultry appetisers. 92 points Gourmet Traveller Wines

Stoney Rise Holyman Chardonnay 2013

Regular Price: $49.99

Special Price: $47.99

Wow. Smoke and struck match, white flower, aniseed and white fleshed fruit, gentle oak spice. A pretty wild ride but the palate is pitch perfect and powerful with a light gloss of honeycomb and almond, tight mineral acid, grapefruit, lime and a long flinty saline finish. Pretty funky and smoky, but so well defined and so good to drink: the fruit matches the winemaking work.
Such personality. Superb. Wow. Drink: 2015 - 2023 96 points

Oak is part of the seduction and there’s nothing wrong with that. This offers texture, flavour and length at a more than reasonable price. It tastes of melon, lactose, cream and white peach, and is
both seductive and satisfying.  92 points Campbell Mattinson Winefront.com.au
