Mike Press Chardonnay 2013

Regular Price: $12.00

Special Price: $11.00

The single vineyard in question surrounds Mike Press’s house. Light straw-green; the wine has immaculate varietal expression on the bouquet, and intense fruit on the palate, with white flesh stone fruit given length and balance by grapefruit acidity on the finish. 91 points James Halliday

Dog Point Chardonnay 2011

“One of Marlborough’s most refined estates just got finer. Magic happened when the idyllic 2010 season met these mature, low-cropped estate vineyards. A winemaking philosophy that prizes texture above flavour, and a lower proportion of new oak than ever, have produced one of the region’s finest chardonnays. It’s lively, honed and poised, with a lemon blossom lift and a fine, taut, textural, mineral-infused palate that lingers long. Drink 2015-2022.” 95 points Tyson Stelzer, Wine Taste, Edition 55

Eden Road Wines the Long Road Chardonnay 2012

.....‘That’s just bloody excellent!’, I’ve exclaimed in my notes, and now I’ve also self-quoted to top it off. Tight and fine. Racy is the word we often use. So impressive. Modern and precise. Had 93-94 written down, so lets go with 93+. Tasted: May13 Alcohol: 12.5% Price: $25 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2014 - 2020+"- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
Wonderful evocative nose of citrus, peach and grapefruit with hints of roasted nuts and vanilla pod, blend of both Tumbarumba vineyards, Courabyra and Maragle firm and austere with a citrus core,  barrel fermenteed, pulling back on obvious pristine fruit with great length. Rating: 93+ Points; The Wining Pom

Hoddles Creek 1er Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2012

Regular Price: $39.99

Special Price: $37.99

As low as: $37.00

Sophistication for the in-the-know masses. The pinot noir plays it straight; the chardonnay plays a more complex hand. Grapefruit, citrus, matchsticks, ginger, general leesy funk. Green melon. Effusive on the nose and lively in the mouth. Mid palate flesh and confident, frisky length. Very young, but very good. 94+ points Winefront.com.au

Greywacke Chardonnay 2011

... This may sound like other top-quality barrel-fermented Chardonnays from around the world but what really marks this out is the terrific freshness that shines vibrantly through all the complex and full flavours.  Jancis Robinson
....This is arguably the best Chardonnay he's made yet at his new venture, a minerally, citrus-tinged white with deftly interwoven oak and flavours of oatmeal and honey. Very classy.  93 points Tim Atkins

$38; 14.5% alcohol; screw cap; 95 points Phillip White - Of the increasing number of finer-style Chardonnays to cross my desk this year, this, the last one to hit, is probably the best...   It is a beautiful elegant wine which is not trying to be Burgundy.  Something makes me feel that it’s past that.  Scallops on the half-shell with strands of spring onion and tiny little slices of mandarin peel, fresh outa the grill, please.

Dexter Chardonnay 2012

..... a little toast and grilled nut is in the mix – it carries itself on bright fruit, judicious oak and clean delivery thereof.  Very long and ‘minerally’ too. Excellent.  Rated : 95 Points Winefront.com.au
The most impressive Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay from the 2012 vintage to cross my path thus far. Depth of fruit, leesy character and persistence are its calling cards.Hazelnuts, subtle florals, nectarine and lemon with an edge of pithiness. Measured toasty oak. Beguiling and unforced creaminess with that obvious lees work enhancing rather than suffocating what the grapes have offered. Its balance and poise are impeccable. I can’t imagine anyone not loving it. 95 points Wine Will Eat Itself

Woodlands Chardonnay 2013

The colour of our 2013 Chardonnay is vibrant straw. The nose reveals peach, pear, struck match and toasty French oak notes. The palate carries a sweet middle core of stone fruits, quince, cashews and spice, finishing bright and textured from the natural acidity. This wine will be best enjoyed from 2016 to 2019.

... right in the middle with imperceptibly nuttiness and taut, citrus fruit. This is one of them. The Twelfth Man is a gripping white from a winery that really specialises in red wines. It's very clever to nail all of the skills and that's without you turning to their little after dinner surprise at the end of this list!" Matthew Jukes, 100 Best Australian Wines 2013/14, May 2013

Frogmore Creek Estate Chardonnay 2011

Rating: 96 James Halliday, Wine of the Week! .....  Bright straw-green; a seductive and delicious wine that fills and caresses the mouth in way that is not in the Tasmanian mainstream, thanks to the absence of strident acidity. There is a creamy/nutty aspect to the white peach fruit from the barrel fermentation that adds to the expression of that fruit on the long, fine palate.

Delamere Vineyards Chardonnay 2011

Regular Price: $40.00

Special Price: $36.50

As low as: $35.83

Natural yeast, barrel ferment, partial malo, lots of lees stirring. Delamere is a key wine estate of the Tamar Valley region, with densely planted vineyards (in Australian terms). Tour de force complexity. Smoke, peach, matchsticks, ripe lemon, nuts. Pours it on. Big aromatics and big flavour, though long and chalky / minerally through the finish. Fantastic length. Quite thrilling. Brilliant.  94+ points Campbell Mattinson Winefront.com.au
