Castelli Estate Pemberton Chardonnay 2014

Regular Price: $27.99

Special Price: $25.19

Wine Companion tasting note. Rating: 95 points
Drink By: 2024 Price:$32.00 Alcohol: 13.3% James Halliday - Published on 27 Jul 2015
Bright straw-green, vibrant, but a little deeper than most when 11 months old; barrel ferment inputs are immediately obvious, providing aroma/flavour complexity, structure and texture likewise. Struck match, grapefruit zest and toasty oak have come together with unexpected poise, bordering on outright finesse. Quite a journey.

Cherubino Pedestal Chardonnay 2013

Regular Price: $27.00

Special Price: $25.99

As low as: $24.00

"This is a picture perfect example of Margaret River chardonnay, with nectarine, white peach and grapefruit criss-crossed with creamy/ figgy notes on the one hand, citrussy acidity on the other; oak has simply been a means to an end.  Alcohol: 13%"
94 points  James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au.
......seamlessly folds the fruit flavour together with the influences of fermentation with natural yeasts in new and used French oak barrels – followed by maturation in those barrels. The technique gives the wine a rich, silky texture to carry the beautiful fruit flavours satisfyingly across the palate. Chris Shannahan

Dandelion Twilight of the Adelaide Hills Chardonnay 2013

Regular Price: $22.99

Special Price: $21.50

As low as: $21.00

Light, greenish gold. A suave, pungent bouquet of dried pear, melon and white peach, with floral and spice notes coming up with air. Lush and creamy in texture, repeating the peach and melon qualities and taking a turn to more exotic passionfruit on the back half. An opulent, open-knit style that is drinking very well right now.

Dexter Chardonnay 2014

Regular Price: $41.00

Special Price: $39.99

As low as: $38.00

Dexter Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay  is bright, pale lemon-gold, green tinged. Still a little shy to sniff, but there are hints of stone fruits. The palate is tightly contained by citrusy, grapefruity acidity, showing stone fruits, fig and its ripe and mouth-filling, held in balance by that refreshing acidity. Although there is 20% new oak, that component is background material along with suggestions of nutty, mealy complexity. This is a complex wine that wants more time; I’d suggest leaving it for another six to twelve months, from when it will repay amply that order of patience.

Giant Steps Yarra Valley Tarraford Chardonnay 2014

Regular Price: $49.99

Special Price: $47.99

The bouquet is arresting in its complexity, with a faint echo of funk, but it is the palate that defines this wine, with its ripples of white peach, grapefruit and creamy cashew, all brought to a driving finish thanks to its natural acidity.
Rolls-Royce power, Yarra Valley length. 13.5% alc, screwcap. 97 points; drink to 2024; $45 James Halliday

96 points - "Rich, flavoursome chardonnay with ripe peach, nectarine and honey flavours, plus perfect hints of hazelnut and spicy oak. The wine is opulent, yet powerful and long. Hoddles Creek 1er Yarra Valley Chardonnay 2014

Regular Price: $45.99

Special Price: $44.99

As low as: $44.50

From a cooler year, with no new oak used. No fining. No filtration or additions. White peach, almonds, brine and subtle struck match, honeyed florals even. Light to medium bodied, calm and composed, almost silky feel, sharpened up by a sweet lemon and stony acidity. Flows like picture of a waterfall taken with slow shutter speed. Cool. Refreshing. Focused. Bright. The length is exemplary too, gently nutty but pure and long.
Hard to slow down the drinking pace. 96 points Gary Walsh Winefront.com.au

Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay 2012

Regular Price: $100.00

Special Price: $96.00

As low as: $89.99

"94+ Points. I reckon I’ve tasted every vintage of Leeuwin Art Series Chardonnay on release since 1992, so this brings me up to 21 vintages. I’m an adult now. I like this a little more than the 2011.
Hazelnut, pear, melon, toast and clove spiced wood. Full bodied, toasty savoury wood plays a leading role in the flavour profile, though of course there’s the typical Leeuwin fruit power to go with it. Pear and lime in the mix, silky honeyed texture, then a little crunch of tannin on the finish. Great length. Has complexity already as a young wine, but really needs a few years to settle down and mesh, at which point it will almost certainly rate a little higher. Tasted: Mar15 Alcohol: 14% Price: $99 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2018 - 2025+"- Gary Walsh, The Wine Front. 94+ points

....A tight, seamless and elegant palate highlighted with figs, quince and lemon skin opens towards a delicately textured and contoured mid palate. Blanched almonds and hazelnuts weave through the primary fruits and textural layers, leading to a long and defined finish.
94 Points. An excellent Prelude of poise and balance, capturing the gravitas of this great chardonnay estate at an accessible point. A wine of detail, complexity, richness and focus, seamlessly melding fig, white peach and cashew nut French oak (one-third new) with well focused grapefruit acidity. It will benefit from a few more months for oak to fully integrate on the finish, and should be spot on just in time for its release in October 2014.”
