Perhaps not as rich as the 2013, at least at this stage, but with wonderfully intense flavours, a crackling line of crisp acidity & some sulphide complexity it expresses both it’s provenance & (we feel) more than delivers to what we aspire – a wine that is both interesting & delicious.

Rating 95 James Halliday
From a single block of P58 clone planted in '98; hand-picked, whole bunch-pressed, wild yeast-fermented, full mlf, not fined or filtered, with no additions other than SO2; 75 dozen made. The bouquet is very complex, with some Burgundian funk, the palate intense, lively and long with a core of grapefruit and white peach. Its best years are still in front of it. 95 points James Halliday

West Cape Howe Old School Chardonnay 2014

Deep straw colour, with a pale green hue. An intense combination of cashew, butter, honeycomb and stone fruit characters. Medium palate weight with a rich and creamy texture. Peach and nectarine fruit flavours are perfectly complimented by toasted nuts, honey and a persistent and flavoursome finish.

.......The palate reveals lovely intensity of nectarine and citrus fruits with lemon curd and cedar. The wine is a complex balance between the fresh stone fruits, bright acid and wonderful creamy texture.
Wild yeast-fermented in French oak. Intense and incisive, the flavours racing along the palate with classic grapefruit opening the bouquet and closing the palate, white peach the wicket keeper.” – 94 Points James Halliday

96 points - "Rich, flavoursome chardonnay with ripe peach, nectarine and honey flavours, plus perfect hints of hazelnut and spicy oak. The wine is opulent, yet powerful and long. Delicious now but with great future." Huon Hooke, Australian Gourmet Traveller Wine - 100 Top New Release Wines, 1 July 2015

Dexter Chardonnay 2014

Regular Price: $41.00

Special Price: $39.99

As low as: $38.00

Dexter Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay  is bright, pale lemon-gold, green tinged. Still a little shy to sniff, but there are hints of stone fruits. The palate is tightly contained by citrusy, grapefruity acidity, showing stone fruits, fig and its ripe and mouth-filling, held in balance by that refreshing acidity. Although there is 20% new oak, that component is background material along with suggestions of nutty, mealy complexity. This is a complex wine that wants more time; I’d suggest leaving it for another six to twelve months, from when it will repay amply that order of patience.

"95 Points. Very pale straw-green; a medley - and melody - of white peach, melon and grapefruit interwoven with barrel ferment characters and discreet French oak, all in the mainstream of elegant Margaret River chardonnay, acidity carrying the fruit well into the aftertaste. 13.5% alc. RRP $25" - James Halliday, Wine Companion Magazine, Aug/Sept 2015. 95 points

Cherubino Pedestal Chardonnay 2013

"This is a picture perfect example of Margaret River chardonnay, with nectarine, white peach and grapefruit criss-crossed with creamy/ figgy notes on the one hand, citrussy acidity on the other; oak has simply been a means to an end.  Alcohol: 13%"
94 points  James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au.
......seamlessly folds the fruit flavour together with the influences of fermentation with natural yeasts in new and used French oak barrels – followed by maturation in those barrels. The technique gives the wine a rich, silky texture to carry the beautiful fruit flavours satisfyingly across the palate. Chris Shannahan

Stoney Rise Holyman Chardonnay 2013

Regular Price: $49.99

Special Price: $47.99

Wow. Smoke and struck match, white flower, aniseed and white fleshed fruit, gentle oak spice. A pretty wild ride but the palate is pitch perfect and powerful with a light gloss of honeycomb and almond, tight mineral acid, grapefruit, lime and a long flinty saline finish. Pretty funky and smoky, but so well defined and so good to drink: the fruit matches the winemaking work.

Willow Bridge Wine Makers Range G1-10 Chardonnay 2013

Regular Price: $29.99

Special Price: $28.00

As low as: $27.50

White peach, almond, spice, cut fennel and preserved lemon. Fine boned, tight grapefruity acidity, gentle savoury and yoghurt flavours, flint and light glossiness. Good burst of flavour, though not too much of it: certainly leans on the more restrained side of the Chardonnay fence. Finish is long and really bursts out all lemony with a softening touch of almond paste.
Very good. Needs a year or two in bottle. 93 points Winefront.com.au
