As with the Watervale Riesling, the Polish Hill River fruit is handpicked, whole bunch pressed, fermented and raised in stainless tanks. The difference here is that the balance of fruit and acidity is such that Col ferments the Polish Hill River bone-dry, whereas the Watervale is bottled with a little residual. It's the more linear expression of the two Rieslings but it's no less impressive. 2018 has produced a set of Adelina Rieslings with more succulence and power than 2017, yet there's no getting away from the fact that here we have an Australian Riesli Learn More

Adelina's Watervale hails from quality dirt. The mature Gulley View vineyard, on red loamy clay over limestone, historically supplied by Leo Buring, once the maker of countless outstanding Rieslings. The fruit here is handpicked and whole bunch pressed before being fermented and raised in stainless tanks. Col halts the ferment with around 5 g/L residual sugar to balance the muscular acidity that this terroir delivers. 2018 has produced a set of Adelina Rieslings with more succulence and power than 2017, yet there's no getting away from th Learn More

Bondar's sophomore Fiano release is again sourced from Ben Lacey's vineyard in Seaview (McLaren Vale). The vines are 6-years-old, grafted onto 25-year-old Chardonnay rootstocks rooted in shallow dark Biscay clay over limestone. Lightly whole bunch pressed, the lion's share went into a single ceramic egg and a small stainless tank for (natural) fermentation. One small bin (around 500 kg) was kept separate for fermentation on its skins. The finished wines remained on lees, unsulphured until June, and then the three parcels were blended to create this small batch release. Learn More

"I’d be giving this another six months or more to settle into bottle before drinking. Opens up with a banana/floral ester character, but given a good dose of air, it settles into something more at ease with itself. Honeydew, almonds and flowers, a little dried herb perhaps. It’s a finer boned iteration, it feels, with cool acidity, nashi pear and lemon barley, a dusty/chalky texture, and a crunchy green apple and fennel laced finish of fair length. Good potential here, but not quite ready to go as yet." Learn More

Joelle Thomson This is a sauvignon blanc, not as we know it. Winemakers James Healy and Ivan Sutherland add creamy bells and whistles to this wine by fermenting their sauvignon grapes in oak barrels to soften savvy’s crisp green flavours – rather than adding a wood-derived taste. The result is an addictively tasty new take on Marlborough savvy. Fashion Quarterly Life, July 2016 Learn More

This is seriously good Sauvignon Blanc from France’s Loire Valley. Very different in style to the Australian and New Zealand savvy’s to which we’ve become accustomed, this quality white is built around a core of flinty, mineral aromas. Appealing aromas of nuts and white fruits. The palate is technically very dry but without any unwanted bitterness or acidity. Nice medium length and smoothness. Enjoy as an aperitif, with shellfish or with trout.  Soaring aromas of yellow peaches, mango, dried mint, and wet limestone—this is classic Alsatian Pinot Blanc. Olivier Humbrecht MW is making far drier wines than he used to, and this is a perfect example. It’s focused, pure, confident and perfectly handled, with quince, peach and spice fruit. The precision is absolutely exemplary. Drink 2016-2023. The nose shows typical limestone influence, with nice nutty, toasty and slight mineral hints.
