  1. Kays Amery Basket Pressed Mataro 2012

Kays Amery Basket Pressed Mataro 2012

    Regular Price: $26.99

    Special Price: $24.99

    As low as: $23.50

A medium bodied wine that’s chewy and red fruited with a side of meat, Brazil nut and mint/licorice. It has dry tannin, a bit of tension and sinew, and good flow through the mouth, dipping slightly on the back palate, before running long and savoury on the finish. There’s a pleasant dried herbal bitterness and something like coffee beans, though they say ‘roast chestnut’ on the back label, and damn them for besting me. Classy. And something of a bargain.”Rated : 93 Points WInefront.com.au

    La Vendetta Barbera Sangiovese

    Regular Price: $20.00

    Special Price: $18.00

    As low as: $17.00

A steal at the price. Importer: Fourth Wave Wine It works best as a quaffer but quality-wise it’s better than that. Beautiful fruit. Clean savouriness. Tastes of black cherries, spice, and peanut oil. Ferrous aromatics. Builds in the glass. I wouldn’t age it but I’d buy a case of this for drinking over the next year in a heartbeat. 1. Lake Breeze Bernoota 2012

    Lake Breeze Bernoota 2012

    Regular Price: $23.00

    Special Price: $21.99

    As low as: $20.00

Slightly less new oak than used for previous vintages. If you’ve been known to enjoy a bottle of Lake Breeze’s famed Bernoota red, then you will love this. It’s a classic example of the label. Balanced, bountifully-fruited, slapped with sexy vanillin/coffeed/musky oak but, importantly, beautifully well balanced. Tickled with fine tannin through the finished.
Spot on example of the style.93+ points Winefront

    Regular Price: $50.00

The perfume gives you a hint, in a way, with cinnamon and earth-dusted ripe red fruit character and a hint of dried herbs. Ripe and generous as the fruit is, it's a compelling drink, layered in flavour and generous without being overbearing. It finishes with a dusty lick of pucker and a tickle of briny acidity. It's lovely to drink, but structurally is quite loose-knit.
    Enjoyable. 92 points Winefront.com.au

  3. Lamura Nero d'Avola DOC (full case buy only)

Lamura Nero d'Avola DOC (full case buy only)

    Regular Price: $16.00

    Special Price: $14.99

How much flavour can you expect from a red wine at this near rock bottom price? When it comes to nero d’Avola (the black grape of Avola, a town in eastern Sicily, and the island’s most widely planted variety), the answer is far more than you might expect. Sealed with a screwcap and from a good vintage, the Lamura may be made in big volumes, but it is exactly the type of spicy, soft-tannined Mediterranean red that shows the promise of modern Sicilian vino. The palate is fresh, clean, fruit driven and dry

  1. Les Courtilles Cotes Du Rhone

    Les Courtilles Cotes Du Rhone

    Regular Price: $19.50

    Special Price: $18.00

Youthful yet gorgeous and complex on the nose displaying dark plum, blueberry, floral and spice characters. The palate is succulent and rounded with lovely fruit-richness and plenty of polished tannins. It's comforting and immensely delicious. At its best: now to 2016. 2. Longview Boat Shed Nebbiolo Rose 2013

Longview Boat Shed Nebbiolo Rose 2013

With a wonderful salmon colour and slightly orange hue the 2013 Boat Shed shows lifted cherry blossom, orange peel and ripe strawberry aromas. The palate has mouth filling maraschino cherry and musk with crisp acidity and a long fresh finish. Unmistakeably Nebbiolo

  3. Mandoleto Catarratto Sicilia (Case Buy)

    Mandoleto Catarratto Sicilia (Case Buy)

    Regular Price: $15.00

    Special Price: $13.00

Green pear, citrus, apricot kernel and a few dried herbs, but perhaps ‘cooly fruity’ is a good way to describe it. It’s clean and refreshing with excellent fruit purity and a little bit of ‘mineral’, perhaps there’s a touch of sweetness to round out  and balance, but feels pretty much dry and pulls that way with its gently herbal and sparkling finish. Well, maybe not ultra-complex, but so good to drink. 91 points Winefront.com.au
