  1. Les Courtilles Cotes Du Rhone 2011

Les Courtilles Cotes Du Rhone 2011

    Regular Price: $19.50

    Special Price: $18.00

Youthful yet gorgeous and complex on the nose displaying dark plum, blueberry, floral and spice characters. The palate is succulent and rounded with lovely fruit-richness and plenty of polished tannins. It's comforting and immensely delicious. At its best: now to 2016. 2. Longview Boat Shed Nebbiolo Rose 2012

Longview Boat Shed Nebbiolo Rose 2012

Even served with a decent chill it’s still revving to get its charms across – within a strict, structured framework. Roses, strawberries, tobacco, licorice. Touch of alcohol warmth. Opens up nicely as it rests in the glass. Excellent buying option. Rated : 91 Points Winefront.com.au

  3. Mandoleto Catarratto Sicilia (Case Buy)

    Mandoleto Catarratto Sicilia (Case Buy)

    Regular Price: $15.00

    Special Price: $13.00

Green pear, citrus, apricot kernel and a few dried herbs, but perhaps ‘cooly fruity’ is a good way to describe it. It’s clean and refreshing with excellent fruit purity and a little bit of ‘mineral’, perhaps there’s a touch of sweetness to round out  and balance, but feels pretty much dry and pulls that way with its gently herbal and sparkling finish. Well, maybe not ultra-complex, but so good to drink. 91 points Winefront.com.au

    Mandoleto Nero d'Avola (Case Buy)

    Regular Price: $15.00

    Special Price: $13.00

the ultimate weekday refreshing red (don’t quote me on that). Red fruit, blood plum, black jellybean with a subtle nut and dried herb flavour. It’s fresh and balanced with fine dry tannin and a good clean finish. Drinks beautifully and has that bit of Nero d’Avola charisma as a point of difference. Rated : 90 Points Winefront.com.au

Another impressive import with bags of bright personality that begs for food. WiningPom

... It really needs a couple of years at least to show itself properly. It tastes of peanut shells, dark cherries, leather, anise, chinotto, various dried herbs. It’s juicy and well balanced but stern and tannic through the finish. I wasn’t sure at first; when I came back a couple of hours later, I was certain. This is fabulous value. And, given some time, will be terrific drinking. 91+ points WInefront.com.au

57% Grenache, 31% Mataro, 7% Shiraz, 5% Cinsaut and I’m thinking about moons and spoons, in June. Very purple. Blackcurrant jubes, flowers, earth and iron, brown sauce and kind of Indian sweet spiciness. Medium bodied, silky with fine tannin, juicy slurpy fun, yet still a serious wine. Has length and a spicy finish with gentle tannin drawing it out. In a nutshell: rich, sweet and smooth, but balanced.  93 points Winefront.com.au

  1. Montevecchio Rosso 2012

    Montevecchio Rosso 2012
    $17.99

Strong colour. Meaty and a bit stinky (reductive), pepper, blue and purple fruit, dried herb, licorice. Medium bodied, dry, interesting, complex. Lovely balance throughout. Rubbery reduction runs through it, but as a kind of smoke trail from a great start, to a solid finish. The blend of grapes imbues it with a sophistication that belies its price. Love it. 92 points Winefront.com.au

Bright red with purple hues  A complex amalgam of vibrant fruit characters of raspberry, strawberry and blueberry with underlying savoury notes such as herbs and leather. Raspberry and blueberry fruit flavours combine with a savoury earthiness and subtle spice. The finish is complex, savoury and long.

  3. Ravensworth Canberra le Querce Sangiovese 2013

Ravensworth Canberra le Querce Sangiovese 2013

    Regular Price: $26.50

    Special Price: $25.00

    As low as: $22.50

One of the best Australian Sangioveses I’ve tasted. On its tenth vintage so I've taken my time getting to it.Deeply cherried with excellent sweet-savoury interplay. Almond skins, dried herbs, orange peel, a dusting of cocoa and plenty of leathery, chewy tannin to satisfy you long after you swallow. The acidity seems to sit especially comfortably within the wine and the back-palate is wonderfully earthen and aniseedy. Looked better and better over three days. Will surely age well. 93 points Wine Will Eat Itself
