This wine is incredibly exciting with a huge range of exotic florals and spices in the bouquet. I see hints of cinnamon or the richer cousin Cassia bark. Initially it has a broody dark berry tone and then lifts with some delicate floral notes like the roses grandpa used to obsessively tend; dark ruby rose. The palate explodes like the fruit of a pomegranate with a nice tang linking in with the gravelly tannins. It's like a locomotive on the palate, it keeps building steam. Great vitality and perfume!

Longview Boat Shed Nebbiolo Rose 2012

Even served with a decent chill it’s still revving to get its charms across – within a strict, structured framework. Roses, strawberries, tobacco, licorice. Touch of alcohol warmth. Opens up nicely as it rests in the glass. Excellent buying option. Rated : 91 Points Winefront.com.au

... displays lifted aromas of black pepper, spice, coffee following with dark cherries and blackcurrant flavours. The savoury style is inspired by the fine wines of Spain and shows finely textured tannin and a long persistent finish. Ideal with tapas, pizza or rabbit casserole. Best served decanted. With careful cellaring this wine will continue to reward you for 5 – 10 years. Learn More

Yalumba The Cigar Cabernet Sauvignon is crimson red with an aroma that fills the senses. The wine is bright with fresh red fruits such as cherries and currants sweeping the palate followed by the melted chocolate texture of the soft tannins. The finish lingers Learn More

It’s a spicy one, that’s for sure. Dark chocolate, orange peel, liquorice, pepper, cloves, black fruit – feel the blackness and loneliness of Independence! And then rejoice. Flush and full in the mouth, sweet ripe dark fruit but laden with bitter chocolate and spice, juicy orange acidity – but in a good way here – and silty tannin pushing the wine along. For $25 bucks, you’re in for a lot of flavour, good structure and a pretty good time. Fine release. 93 points Winefront.com.au

  3. Battle of Bosworth Puritan Shiraz 2013

Battle of Bosworth Puritan Shiraz 2013

Unoaked, and all the better for it, sulphur Free, and all the better for it. Bright summer red drinking of the highest style and quality!!
A super vibrant black/ purple colour in the glass heralds a lively dark forest fruit and black cherry nose, as well as a lushness and hints of liquorice and spice. The wine has a rich, textural and even palate tied together with beautifully structured tannins. This is a medium to full-bodied style of wine.

Deep crimson; a compelling and complex bouquet offering not only ripe red and black fruits, but also provencale garrigue, ironstone and game; the palate offers layers of fruit, and the evenly balanced tannins and fresh acidity combine to create a long and expansive finish that is simply precise and pure. 96 points Ben Edwards Hallidays Wine Companion

..... boy oh boy, as the hungry cartoon dog says, is this a delicious wine. Pleasantly gritty tannin, gentle slipperiness, balanced acidity and lip smacking pure fruit appeal and hazelnutty flavours bring it home. Let's rate it appropriately highly, I think. Gary Walsh, Winefront.com.au Rated : 95 Points
... this one’s straight-out full-bore naughty, right from the start.  It knows no guilt.  It’ll bite you and never look back.  So catch the ride and slide.  It has the dry tannins to remind you of the handbrake, but that’s best forgot. Saltimbocca with capers, please.  Then whizz me home in the Ferrari, attagal.

Good colour; the fragrant, berry-filled bouquet leads into a rich, multilayered palate with blackcurrant, mulberry and mocha flavours; the tannins are ripe, and the wine has all the ingredients for long cellaring. Eden Valley's climate is inherently more suited to cabernet than that of the Barossa Valley.” - 94 Points & Top 100 Wines of 2013 James Halliday
