93 points - "Small parcels from estate blocks vinified separately from start to finish in new and used French oak. Convincing colour, and at the heavyweight/top end of the malbec scale, with loads of earthy plum and black fruits; the fruit has swallowed the oak, and the tannins are in balance. Deserves time. 13.5% alc. To 2035." James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion 2016, 27 July 2015

92 points - "When made as a single varietal wine, Langhorne Creek malbec delivers more come-hither charm than anywhere else in Australia (Clare Valley and Margaret River included). Lightly poached plum, and a flick of star anise, makes for drinking whenever the need (or the food) suggests. 14% alc. To 2020." James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion 2016, 27 July 2015

The Catena Zapata Malbec shows a saturated dark violet color; the nose offers cassis, mocha and clove, along with a strong suggestion of soil tones. It combines density and sweetness on the one hand, with gripping flavors of tobacco, dark berries, spices and minerals; a palate-staining finish dominated by sweet black and blue fruits.

  1. Bodega Zapata Catena Malbec

    Bodega Zapata Catena Malbec

    Regular Price: $26.00

    Special Price: $24.50

A blend of four vineyards - vineyards are divided into lots that are harvested at different times. Ripe plum fruit flavors and silky texture. Dark fruit character, dense mid-palate and pepper notes. Black cherry aromas and excellent structure. Explosive floral aromatics and full, concentrated mouthfeel.
International Wine Cellar -  91 points - Bright red-ruby. Raspberry, licorice and fig aromas lifted by sexy oak tones. Vinous and refined on the palate, with dark raspberry, currant and fig flavors complicated by a saline nuance. Nicely balanced and not at all overly sweet. ... Finishes with firm, fine, building tannins and excellent length.

Third vintage release of the affordable Calo tempranillo and it’s another goodun’. Value plus. It probably needs another 6-12 months in bottle but it’s bonza drinking once again. Glossy vanilla and bueberry. Soft. Has a bit of tannin to it. A bit of chew. Smoky, bacony, chicory length. Bloody good drinking. Gorgeously medium-weight and food friendly. 90 points Winefront

"96 Points. Regal Cabernet with blackcurrant fruit at the heart of a multilayers and complex array of typical firm tannins, dried herbs and cedary tannins; the balance is immaculate but the wine sings out for patience. Screwcap. 14.6%. To 2033. $32" - James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion 2016.

  1. Cirillo Estate the Vincent Grenache 2015

Cirillo Estate the Vincent Grenache 2015

    Regular Price: $19.99

    Special Price: $18.99

    As low as: $18.50

Its aroma is less overwhelmingly floral – instead it has a more savoury meatiness, with an underlying minerality and structure that begs to be examined. On the palate it shows the same sweet fruit but it finishes magnificently dry, with savoury spices, hints of cinnamon, clove and bitter cocoa. The tannins are small and grippy but incredibly smooth, and combined with and long, drawing acidity give it great length and a superb finish.

It is a phenomenal wine for under $30 and should be on everyone’s go-to list for lighter, complex, and dangerously moreish South Australian reds. (Clear and Sober Counsel)

    Coriole Barbera 2015

    As low as: $25.00

"It's easy to see why barbera is Italy's most prominent red variety: this stuff makes you crave pasta. This is tight, unforgiving, very dry red, with powerful, persistent, fine-grained tannin that sets the whole mouth puckering for tucker. It is not, what you say, fruit driven, or juicy. But feed it pure spaghetti bolognaise, or paste with lots of black olive and fresh herbs, and you're away. It will cellar for a decade." Philip White - Adelaide Advertiser

..... the fragrant fruit totally delicious, tannin and oak ghosts behind that fruit. Full of promise. - 93 points James Halliday Wine Companion
.....It's fresh, abounds with acidity and will have have you emptying your glass quicker than you can say: "by Jove, that's a tasty wine". Such great drinking. 93 points The Vinsomniac
Winemaker Alex Shirrah fermented these whole berries in “small beeswax-lined vats”. Whatever he did worked magic. If these are typical of what Mark Lloyd is calling Coriole’s “New Australian Collection”, bring in those new Australians quick-smart. Nero d’Avola speaks no English; writes no latin. But it rocks. Give ’em a go." Phillip White
