.....Bright crimson-purple; has absorbed the oak while preserving the cassis fruits and softening the tannins; good length and balance. Drink to 2027." 94 points James Halliday, James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2015, 1 August 2014
..... Langhorne fruit exuberance, all blackberried and blueberried, but with grainy, smoky, gum leafy tannin keeping it firm and strict and proper. Full-bodied but not overdone. Sound, fruit-filled length. Oak as a complement but not in an overt and dominant manner. Will keep developing in the cellar over a good number of years. 93+ points Winefront

Deep purple-crimson, it is sourced from two estate blocks and one local grower .... the best selected for this wine. 14% alc; screwcap 95 points James Halliday Weekend Australian
.....This wine needs a huge sleep in a dark place to build on that already noticable complexity, to soften out and round off those tannins, and to let that coiled up power and intensity, uncoil. Seriously, the BEST Australian Malbec wine I have ever tried, and a cellar special ... a special wine this one. - Gavin Trott

The Catena Zapata Malbec shows a saturated dark violet color; the nose offers cassis, mocha and clove, along with a strong suggestion of soil tones. Bodega Zapata Catena Malbec

    Regular Price: $26.00

A blend of four vineyards - vineyards are divided into lots that are harvested at different times. Ripe plum fruit flavors and silky texture. Dark fruit character, dense mid-palate and pepper notes. Black cherry aromas and excellent structure. Explosive floral aromatics and full, concentrated mouthfeel.
International Wine Cellar -  91 points - Bright red-ruby. Raspberry, licorice and fig aromas lifted by sexy oak tones. Vinous and refined on the palate, with dark raspberry, currant and fig flavors complicated by a saline nuance. Nicely balanced and not at all overly sweet. ... Finishes with firm, fine, building tannins and excellent length.

Third vintage release of the affordable Calo tempranillo and it’s another goodun’. Value plus. It probably needs another 6-12 months in bottle but it’s bonza drinking once again. Glossy vanilla and bueberry. Soft. Has a bit of tannin to it. A bit of chew. Smoky, bacony, chicory length. Bloody good drinking. Gorgeously medium-weight and food friendly. 90 points Winefront

A powerful, yet disciplined, display of cabernet varietal character, commencing on the bouquet and gaining even more traction on the medium to full-bodied palate; here rich blackcurrant fruit stands centre-stage, savoury/ powdery tannins adding gravitas, cedary oak likewise. - 96 points James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion Magazine, Oct/ Nov 2014.
Black fruit, black olives, leaf, spicy biscuit and pencil oak, mint, chocolate. Medium bodied, flush in the mouth, pixel fine tannin, even but crisp acidity, and a long tobacco tinged finish. Terrific. Screwcap Drink: 2016 - 2022+" - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front. 94 points

Cirillo Estate the Vincent Grenache 2014

    Regular Price: $19.99

    Special Price: $18.99

    As low as: $18.50

.....The tannins are small and grippy but incredibly smooth, and combined with and long, drawing acidity give it great length and a superb finish. It is a phenomenal wine for under $30 and should be on everyone’s go-to list for lighter, complex, and dangerously moreish South Australian reds.
"Man, you'll drink gallons of this. Sweet spice, bergamot tea, liquorice, forest berry fruits, all mixed up in the pretty yet savoury and amaro-like perfume. Sloshes through the palate but seems to find a cut and thrust of frisky acidity amongst the riper fruits, trimmed down with some black tea tannins and finishes long and fresh. Has some spiky edges and a suggestion of building sweetness, but the wine just feels so guzzleable from the get go.
Yes, yes. Rated: 92 Points - Mike Bennie, The Wine Front.

"It's easy to see why barbera is Italy's most prominent red variety: this stuff makes you crave pasta. This is tight, unforgiving, very dry red, with powerful, persistent, fine-grained tannin that sets the whole mouth puckering for tucker. It is not, what you say, fruit driven, or juicy. But feed it pure spaghetti bolognaise, or paste with lots of black olive and fresh herbs, and you're away. It will cellar for a decade." Philip White - Adelaide Advertiser
