Vibrant, spicy and ruthless!

Barbera is back in action! Mixing puncheons, hills, danger and spills. Vibrant, spicy and ruthless! Vinified on location. Stirred, not shaken. Bottled unfiltered. Licensed to thrill.

Deep ruby, Lifted cherry and raspberry fruit, with a hint of orange peel. A soft round palate of berry fruit with refreshing acidity and a spicy finish

Fontanafredda Langhe Nebbiolo 2012

Regular Price: $30.00

Special Price: $28.99

An affordable, authentic Langhe Neb under screwcap. Importer: Fourth Wave Wine Licorice root, perfumed and red fruited with almond in the background. Medium bodied, fresh, very pure and clear, shape and length is very good. Light tannin.
Approachable and very enjoyable, and while it comes up in the glass beautifully, I don't think it's a cellaring style. 92 points Winefront.com.au

Glaetzer the Wallace GSM 2014

Regular Price: $21.99

Special Price: $19.99

As low as: $19.00

Glaetzer Wallace takes on the traditional Barossa Valley blend of Shiraz and Grenache in a thoroughly modern way.

Overt dark cherry, cracked pepper anad raspberry notes are lifted and fragrant on the nose. Dark fruit lushness on the palate counterbalances a spicy suppleness and focus. Flavours of blackcurrant, blueberry and crushed spice provide depth and complexity. Very approachable in it's youth and will develop great complexity as it ages.

Gran Sasso Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC (full case buy only)

Regular Price: $13.99

Special Price: $13.50

Interesting wine, in a good way. Smells of honeycomb, spice, sweat, dried herbs and rich dark berries. Medium bodied, rich fleshy texture with plump tannin, plum, dried cherry and sarsaparilla flavours, clean acidity and a savoury and fruit sweet finish of good length.
Delicious. Load up. 90 Points Winefront.com.au

Guilty By Association Preservative Free Nero d'Avola 2015

Regular Price: $21.00

Special Price: $20.00

As low as: $19.00

Preservative-free and vegan-friendly are just two extra-ordinary features of this delicious wine.

Probably our favourite current release from this producer. Smells like Nero, all the blood plums, cherry and liquorice, but with a saline edge, and maybe a little mint. Medium bodied, fleshy, cherries, fine grained tannin, some brine, spice and a pretty convincing finish. Not guilty of being ordinary, is the verdict. Gary Walsh, Winefront 91 points

An 80/20% blend destemmed, standard Hay Shed Hill vinification; 13 months in French oak. Healthy crimson colour; a wine of considerable stature, with cassis and redcurrant fruit leading the way, pursued by firm tannins that unequivocally ask that you bide your time for 3 or so years. 93 points James Halliday

Head Wines Head Red GSM 2015

Regular Price: $25.50

Special Price: $24.99

As low as: $24.17

Raspberry juice, musk, spice and perfume. Medium bodied, supple and succulent, ultra-fine powdery tannin, clean acidity, a touch of meatiness, with a smattering of dried herb and brick dust tannin cleaning up the finish. Flat out delicious: a bonus point for that.”

Head Wines the Head Red 2015

Regular Price: $25.50

Special Price: $23.50

As low as: $22.50

Unusual sophistication at this price point for a Barossa Shiraz. It’s not an ooze monster, not at all. It’s fine and spicy, almost bony in structure with firm grainy tannin, blueberry and floral/apricot perfume, pan juices and crisp cut of acidity. Finish is dry, meaty and spicy, with a vapour trail of sweet blue fruit. Likely better again with another year in bottle.”

Head Wines the Old Vine Grenache 2014

Regular Price: $39.00

Special Price: $37.50

As low as: $35.00

The Barossa Old Vine Charter declares Old Vine to be anything 35 years or older. This is that, and more, being 73 years old and from a vineyard near Krondorf.  20% whole bunch and spent 12 months in a 20 year old 2500L foudre. So many numbers, and luckily they all add up to something great.

Sweet cherries and raspberry, spice, smoked meat, peanuts in their shells, dried flowers and a pleasant kind of sweatiness. Light to medium bodied, confusingly feels succulent and bony at the same time, has a gentle sweetness of red berry fruit, yet a dry stony texture to its fine grained tannin. Lovely clean length.
Complex.
Light on its feet. Beautiful to drink. It’s how you make Grenache sing. 95 Points Winefront.com.au
