    Le Chat Noir Pinot Noir

    Regular Price: $18.50

    Special Price: $17.99

    As low as: $17.00

Decent, quaffable pinot noir for under $20? It's almost impossible to find but this terrific value import from the south of France manages it ... “the best French Pinot Noir outside of Burgundy” .... It's on the riper side of the pinot spectrum, certainly no shrinking violet, but no brash bogan either. The (French) girl next door with smoothness, dark cherry fruit flavours, hints of earthiness and plenty of length. It can be found on special for as low as $15 but the RRP is $19.  Windsor Dobbin

  3. Ata Rangi Crimson Pinot Noir 2012

Ata Rangi Crimson Pinot Noir 2012

    Regular Price: $34.99

    Special Price: $30.00

No one would disagree that Ata Rangi is one of the country's star producers. Crimson is Ata Rangi's second label for wine made from younger vines, ten to twenty years old. Lip-smackingly good now, it has marvelous complexity, especially for a "second" wine, with an engaging mixture of sweet and savory elements. Crimson reflects just how great a producer Ata Rangi is. winereviewonline.com 92 points

93 points James Suckling-  Pure fruit with strawberry and flowers. Very aromatic undertones of lemon rind. Full body with firm and lightly chewy tannins. Wonderful tannin tension to the fruit. Keeps it in line. Ready.
93 points Wine Spectator-  *Top 100 Wines of 2013* Elegant, with supple, fresh and lively flavors of raspberry and cherry, meshing harmoniously with details of clove, forest floor, tobacco leaf, pepper and dried lavender that echo on the long, lingering finish. Drink now through 2024.

93 Points & Special Value Wine James Halliday
Excellent crimson-purple; this is pure gold-plated magic, winemaker Tony Murphy the wizard; it is a delicious pinot noir with perfect weight, texture and precisely defined spicy red berry varietal fruits. In a million years I would never guess its Riverland origin if served blind.

... layered tannin that works its way through the flavours as it heads towards a stony, slightly herbal, sappy and savoury finish. Only just medium-bodied at most however it has unwavering intensity and very good reach. 94+ Wine Will Eat Itself
... It’s pretty and delicate and absolutely needs time in bottle or a big decant if drinking now. After being open for a day, it really began to sing, then I finished the bottle so can’t tell you what happened next. Go forth, Pinot Fanciers. 95 poimts Winefront.com.au

The use of 25% whole bunches in the fermentation of this wine provides a sappy cold tea aromatic lift that sits comfortably alongside fragrant red fruits and a suggestion of spicy oak; the palate reveals a muscular structure, with fine tannins and chalky acidity leading to a generously long finish; will reveal more suppleness and finesse with time in bottle. 92 points James Halliday

  2. Ashton Hills Estate Pinot Noir 2011

Ashton Hills Estate Pinot Noir 2011

Nick Stock .. "This is a vivacious and attractive young pinot with immediate appeal. Bright strawberry and cherry fruits swirl up fast in the glass, ahead of some raspberry, earth and bracken-like notes, and there is attractive spice. The palate offers bright, light red-fruit flavour on entry. Assertive yet ripe tannins hold juicy cherry flavour neatly in place. The wine looks very complete and approachable.’

  3. Ashton Hills Reserve Pinot Noir 2012

Ashton Hills Reserve Pinot Noir 2012

"95 Points. Straight up, immediately on opening, this offers superb pinot noir drinking. ...... For pure, meaty/spicy, concentrated power, this wine takes some beating. Alcohol: 14% Price: $65 Closure: Screwcap Drink: 2016 - 2024" - 95 points Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.

No point horsing about, let's just call this what it is - one of Australia's best Pinot Noirs. ......   Dear God it's a beautiful wine. I found myself unconsciously drinking my sample of this when tasted this afternoon, which is the ultimate sign of something .... special. I had the good fortune of trying a sample from two different bottles, opened a day apart, and can confirm that both bottles looked equally glorious (more oak richness showing on the fresher bottle, more complexity in the older). I'm buying some, even though I have random wine in nearly every room of my house. It's that good. 96 points Would I buy it? I am. Australian Wine Review
