  1. Ata Rangi Crimson Pinot Noir 2014

Ata Rangi Crimson Pinot Noir 2014

    Regular Price: $34.99

    Special Price: $32.50

    As low as: $32.00

No one would disagree that Ata Rangi is one of the country's star producers. Crimson is Ata Rangi's second label for wine made from younger vines, ten to twenty years old. Lip-smackingly good now, it has marvelous complexity, especially for a "second" wine, with an engaging mixture of sweet and savory elements. Crimson reflects just how great a producer Ata Rangi is.

  2. De Bortoli Yarra Estate Grown Pinot Noir 2014

De Bortoli Yarra Estate Grown Pinot Noir 2014

    Regular Price: $30.00

    Special Price: $27.50

    As low as: $26.00

"You have to wonder how they keep doing this kind of quality at this kind of price. The world will wake up to Australia's pinot/value offerings before long and blow the prices sky high; it's our duty to make hay now, while we can. This wine sets the pitch between savouriness, dryness and fruitiness to an exquisite level. It offers a riot of spices, cherries, smoke and herb notes and a rush of flavour to the finish." Campbell Mattinson, Wine Companion, August 2015 96 points

“In perfect shape and form. Sets the pitch between savouriness, dryness and fruitiness to an exquisite level. A riot of spices, cherries, smoke and herb notes rush through the palate and explode through the finish. Reductive notes work admirably in the context of the style/wine. Fantastic release.”James Halliday, James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2016, July 2015

  3. Dog Point Pinot Noir 2014

    Dog Point Pinot Noir 2014

    Regular Price: $47.99

    Special Price: $46.00

    As low as: $45.00

This is the most triumphant Dog Point Pinot yet. I had to try this three times, coming back time and time again just to confirm whether it was ‘that good’ and my nose/mouth wasn’t deceiving me. Seriously concentrated, even in its absolute youth this looks spot on, all bright red fruit and a little stemmy sap on the nose. The palate is deep and surprisingly firm, entirely mouthwatering despite the low acidity, the long, spicy, sappy finish a masterpiece.

Central Otago be damned! Masterful and grown up Marlborough Pinot with a vitality that is unmatched. Interesting that this had me thinking about the brilliant Fromm Pinots when tasting this (which are some of the best Pinots in the region). Maybe it is the low acid and bright fruit? What a wine. Ready to go already as well. Yes. Best drinking 2016-2026. 18.7/20, 95/100. 14%, $35. Would I buy it? Oh yes. Would be nice to have a case of this hanging around the house.

  1. Giant Steps Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2015

Giant Steps Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2015

    Regular Price: $30.99

    Special Price: $28.99

    As low as: $28.00

The first release of a new “Yarra Valley range” out of Giant Steps. This in the context that Giant Steps has sold the Innocent Bystander name (to Brown Brothers).

Hand picked, wild yeast, no fining or filtration. The winemaking doesn’t sound compromised, and nor does the shape and flavour of the wine in the mouth. It’s sour-sweet in a positive way, ripped with dry herbs and cherry-plum, with cranberry and crushed dry spice notes aplenty. It’s succulent, it’s tangy, it’s spicy and yet it’s firm and strong. It speaks of a top-notch vintage, and producer. Rated : 94 Points Winefront.com.au

  2. Greywacke Pinot Noir 2013

    Greywacke Pinot Noir 2013

    Regular Price: $52.00

    Special Price: $47.99

    As low as: $46.99

Imagine a black forest gateaux made with marinated black cherries and very ripe blackberries, served with a little creamy vanilla custard. A highly perfumed style of Marlborough pinot featuring exotic fruit sweetness, a cedar-like spiciness and a delicate smoky scent reminiscent of lapsang souchong. The palate is dense and generous with ripe cherry-plum richness, some soft licorice and clove and a fine but voluptuous tannin structure.

Hoddles Creek Estate Pinot Noir 2015

    Regular Price: $23.00

    Special Price: $21.50

MB: Beautiful pale garnet colour. .....Superb. Flavours and aromas come with charisma of cherries, faint truffle, earth, light tobacco, but you go back for that palate feel, time and time again. Ludicrous price. Must buy. Must share. 93 points, 2016-2025+
GW: Pure raspberry fruit, with some cherry in support, spice, wet earth, pencils and an almost liquorice root perfume. Light to medium bodied, with a tense almost sinewy texture, mass of fine-point tannin, pencilly ‘mineral’ feel and the tannin and sweet damp earth singing on the finish. Can’t recall a better release of the Estate Pinot Noir. Incredible sophistication for its price. 94 points. 2018-2028+

  1. Le Chat Noir Pinot Noir

    Le Chat Noir Pinot Noir

    Regular Price: $18.50

    Special Price: $17.99

    As low as: $17.00

Decent, quaffable pinot noir for under $20? It's almost impossible to find but this terrific value import from the south of France manages it ... “the best French Pinot Noir outside of Burgundy” .... It's on the riper side of the pinot spectrum, certainly no shrinking violet, but no brash bogan either. The (French) girl next door with smoothness, dark cherry fruit flavours, hints of earthiness and plenty of length. It can be found on special for as low as $15 but the RRP is $19.  Windsor Dobbin

Paringa Estate Peninsula Pinot Noir 2013

    Regular Price: $28.99

    Special Price: $27.00

The lifted wine offers briary fruit dominated by fresh cherries, blueberries and complexing nutmeg spice. The palate is full, flavorsome and long with evident fine tannins.

"93 Points. From Paringa's three leased vineyards, hand-picked on 11 days between 6 and 20 Mar. A wine of remarkable length, behaving as much like chardonnay as pinot in its structure; the flavours of damson plum and red cherry are pure pinot, the mouthfeel fresh and balanced.
    Drink to: 2018. RRP $27" - James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au. 93 Points
