Quick Overview

90 points - Gary Walsh - Winefront - Fresh-faced version of Barossa Shiraz.
Summer berry pudding, spice and new leather. Medium bodied, juicy red berries, a bit of spice and dried herb, firm acidity, grainy tannin, and a spicy and tangy finish of sound length. Fruit first here, and a good easy drinking version of Barossa Shiraz it is too.

94 points - Ray Jordan - Wine of the Week
Made in a restrained and elegant style that is almost atypical of the Barossa Valley, yet with plenty of fruit-flavoured intensity right through the palate. Lovely fruit showing light red berry & spicy plum, with grainy tannins and neatly worked oak that doesn't intrude. Just gets it right.

Product Description

The Barossa has built an enviable reputation forged on the back of this workhorse variety and the 2015 season presented us with superb conditions to highlight all that is great about the grape. January rains set things up nicely and the season progressed evenly with no heatwave conditions with the resulting wines showing excellent colour and rich aroma and flavour profiles. In short, it was a good’un.

Classic Barossa aromas of dark plum, blackberry and macerated summer berry fruits literally spill out of the glass here. Hints of Asian spice, licorice, earth, roasting meats, purple flowers, berry flan and gently spiced oak add to the wines aromatic complexity.

Plenty of texture and attitude on the palate with a solid wall of ripe, concentrated black fruits. Flavours of satsuma plum, blackberry and blueberry all coming into play. There is a lovely flow to the fruit over the mid-palate with the rich fruit supported by hints of abundant spice, dark chocolate, earth and subtle oak notes. A curtain of ripe, chalky tannin provides a supportive frame for the fruit to hang off and the wine trails off persistently with flavours of opulent black fruits and Asian spice.
