Deep full vibrant red. Ripe fragrant cassis nose with attractive scented vanilla and coffee overtones arising from integrated oak. Long bright elegantly structured palate showing persistent varietal fruit and fine grained tannins.
Bright, clear purple-crimson; the lower alcohol pays dividends with the more elegant and intense profile of the fruit flavours and the persistent high quality tannins of the kind you find in Bordeaux in a good vintage. Especially impressive for ancient mariners such as myself. 94 points James Halliday
Hut Block cabernet brings home the bacon – again. I guess you have to love cabernet but this is a super red at the price. Lots of curranty flavour, dusty overtones, notes of dried tobacco and some minty lift. Medium-weight flavour, curls of tannin, excellent length and a fair bit of straight-down-the-line charm. It’s not quite back up the truck territory but the value here is high. Rated : 92+ Points Winefront.com.au
Its a greatly compelling proposition. Single vineyard, cellar worthy, weighty flavour but not over the top. It drinks well as a smooth, fleshy, curranty young young red, but long chains of tannin and persistent dark berried flavour suggest that a stint in the cellar wil only do it good. I don't know how they keep the price so low, I really don't. Wine Companion Magazine
