Violets, blackberries, currents and spice are the hallmark of this years wine. Classic Cabernet Sauvignon structure and lovely juicy dark fruits, that are very much a part the Flametree Cabernet Merlot style, once again dominate both nose and palate. The nose also shows hints of violets, black/ blueberries and briary oak. Perfumed Cabernet fruits, with a fine tannin structure run the length of the medium weight palate. The third wine in a wonderful trio of Flametree Cabernet Merlots.
Some chocolate and liquorice richness down below with rich cherry fruit in the middle and the heavenly perfume of gum leaf and violets up above. It has weight and impact, a lovely set of creamy tannins, and delivers a mouthful of Cabernet satisfaction. Length excellent. It’s a serious wine at the price and high quality. In hindsight, after reading that note, I’m wondering (aloud) why I didn’t rate it (even) higher? Rated : 92 Points Winefront.com.au
A pure lifted black fruit bouquet, showing touches of violet, cedar and regional leafiness; the palate has lovely texture and depth, showing generosity on the one hand and firmness of structure on the other; long and luscious, but restrained and poised; a beautifully crafted successor to the Jimmy Watson-winning 2007. Screwcap. 14.5% alc. Rating 95
