Capel Vale Regional Series Margaret River Cabernet
Product Description
Capel Vale's REGIONAL SERIES of wines come from select grape varieties grown for optimum quality on our vineyards situated in the 3 coolest wine regions of Western Australia.
This full bodied and elegant wine is a blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon enhanced with a small percentage of classic varietals. Following fermentation and extended maceration, the wine has been matured in new and old French oak barriques, producing a complex blend of Margaret River fruit characters including cassis, eucalypt, capsicum, mulberry and plum with secondary notes of chocolate, tobacco and cedar.
Mulberry, cassis and capsicum overtones
Palate: Mulberries, cassis and plum with some secondary chocolate tones.
Bright colour; distinctly cedary bouquet, with cassis and a touch of black olive thrown in for good measure; the palate shows abundant black and red fruits, with the oak merely seasoning the fruit; the tannins are fine and plentiful; plenty of wine for the price. Screwcap. 13.5% alc. Rating 94 James Halliday
Lamb and cabernet are a classic combination, the match was perfect. Dusty minty aromas lifted from the glass, initially giving the impression of a closed austere wine. The first sip assuaged these fears and a plush mouth-filling wine revealed itself. Lovely blackcurrant and black fruits combined with firm but grainy, fine tannins. For a drink now cabernet this fits the bill, but there’s more in store if you choose to be a little more patient. - Chris Shanahan
