  1. Hay Shed Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Hay Shed Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

The oak is background cedar which will reduce further as the fruits emerge with some bottle age. This vineyard consistently produces intense fleshy and full mid palate Cabernet with massive fruit weight with dark cherry and blackcurrant flavours. At the time of writing the wine is very youthful and tight but it still has ample fruit sweetness that will only become more accessible as the wine matures in bottle. This is a big full wine with ample flavour and concentration in the classic Margaret River tradition.

Medium crimson-purple; three east-facing blocks with minimal topsoil produced high quality cabernet grapes, and were picked early enough to preserve authentic black olive/forest notes to the central pillar of cassis fruit; the tannins are fine-grained, the oak well-integrated and balanced.

Slightly less new oak than used for previous vintages. If you’ve been known to enjoy a bottle of Lake Breeze’s famed Bernoota red, then you will love this. It’s a classic example of the label. Balanced, bountifully-fruited, slapped with sexy vanillin/coffeed/musky oak but, importantly, beautifully well balanced. Tickled with fine tannin through the finished.
Spot on example of the style.93+ points Winefront

... smoky vanillin oak, musk and violet. Healthy serve of eucalypt/mint character. Smooth through the palate, succulent through the finish. Fruit-filled tannin. Crowd-pleasing but well structured and balanced. In short, it’s very good. Alcohol: 14.2%  - 93 points Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front.
... bright and lively cassis fruit runs as a pure stream of flavour through the length of the medium-bodied palate; oak and gently savoury tannins tie the parcel up to perfection.” – 95 Points James Halliday

$16? ... Juiciness from start to finish. Medium-bodied but it feels more generous than that. Opens up nicely in the glass and just keeps on keeping on. Another hit for the Longhop brand. 91 points Winefront.com.au
