Bright red berry fruits on the nose with lots of spice and pepper and a hint of oak. Young and vibrant, it's bigger and more savoury than the nose suggests, with black fruits, liquorice, mint, meat, pepper, spice and a touch of oak. It needs some time to soften but has lovely black and red berry fruits, savoury and spicy

  2. Vigne del Vulture Aglianico Pipoli DOC (Case Buy)

Vigne del Vulture Aglianico Pipoli DOC (Case Buy)

..Intriguing. Blood and blood plum, rose oil, hazelnut, bitter herb and chocolate. It's dry and chewy with a fair whack of chalky tannin but has the fruit and density to pull it off with style. Good to drink, interesting to taste, and ripping value to boot. Love it. Drink : 2010 - 2014 90 points Winefront.com.au

Third vintage release of the affordable Calo tempranillo and it’s another goodun’. Value plus. It probably needs another 6-12 months in bottle but it’s bonza drinking once again. Glossy vanilla and bueberry. Soft. Has a bit of tannin to it. A bit of chew. Smoky, bacony, chicory length. Bloody good drinking. Gorgeously medium-weight and food friendly. 90 points Winefront

Plenty of lavender, dried rosemary, hung game-meats, musk and white pepper. The palate is well weighted with plenty of texture and fruit flavour’s of ripe, plum, blackfruit’s, mulberry and cherry. As to be expected there are the rich savoury and spicy aspects that we love from this variety in abundance. Nutmeg, Dutch licorice and a great earthy weight. Ripe, chalky tannins wrap in to a long persistent finish.

  3. Ruggabellus Fluus 2014

    Ruggabellus Fluus 2014

    Regular Price: $27.00

    Special Price: $24.99

Opens with herb and spice notes, green pepper corns, ripe red fruits and that sweetness of cloves. Shows frisky and juicy in the palate - it's light on for sure but carries plenty of detail in the gently sweet flavours and finishes fresh, with a pleasing amaro twist (such a hallmark of Ruggabellus wines!) and gently dusty. It's an expressive, pretty drink, not overly deep in flavour,
but has plenty of interest in the glass. Wait for warmer days and get stuck in. 92 points Winefront.com.au

  1. Ruggabellus Timaeus 2014

    Ruggabellus Timaeus 2014

    Regular Price: $45.00

    Special Price: $44.00

    As low as: $40.00

Ruggabellus wines is a pretty amazing undertaking. And geez, hasn't the warmth-then-rains of the 2014 season done some interesting things to wine from the region, including that unusually low alcohol... Beautiful perfume. Delicate and pretty, musky, like a sweet cologne lingering in a room. Red fruits, briar, white pepper, candy, but it feels warm and pretty as a scent.
It's surprisingly savoury to taste - game meats, red fruits again, amaro sour-sweetness, a gently bitter finish. Satiny in texture with a ripple of sandy tannin. Superb wine, and as delicate as expressions of the Barossa Valley get, without anaemia.
It's the 'elegant' wine of the Ruggabellus 2014 premium releases (compared to sinewy Efferus and plush Archaeus)". 93 points Winefront.com.au

  2. Ruggabellus Efferus 2014

    Ruggabellus Efferus 2014

    Regular Price: $45.00

    Special Price: $44.00

    As low as: $40.00

Really savoury, meaty, dusty bouquet with red and black berry fruit set amongst meat drippings, charcuterie plate whiffs and general animale, yet clean and fresh fruited too. Curious and delicious start. Lean but flavoursome and sinewy across the palate. Brisk in fruit character with striking flavours of just ripe red berry fruit, herbs, raw meat with ropes of slender dusty tannin that finish chewy and mouthwatering.
Lovely, lovely drinking, but very much in a shimmer of Barossa's more recognisable deep flavoured spectrum. And great for that. Must buy for enthusiasts of this producer." 94 points Winefront.com.au

    Ruggabellus Archaeus 2014

    Regular Price: $45.00

    Special Price: $44.00

Warm spice, ripe red and black berry fruits, pepper and rosemary herbal notes, touch of boysenberry jam but not overly rich in scent, but very attractive. It's fleshy and juicy in the palate but with gentle herbal notes and chalky fringes lending structure. Surprising sappy tannin profile amongst the ripe fruit and then sour-sweetness of fruit character.  Medium bodied, very pure feeling, pushes across the palate with good length.
A real gulper, but has enough chew and detail. 93+ points Mike Bennie Winefront.com.au
