    Special Price: $20.50

Bright red berry fruits on the nose with lots of spice and pepper and a hint of oak. Young and vibrant, it's bigger and more savoury than the nose suggests, with black fruits, liquorice, mint, meat, pepper, spice and a touch of oak. It needs some time to soften but has lovely black and red berry fruits, savoury and spicy

Gran Sasso Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC (full case buy only)

    Regular Price: $11.50

    Special Price: $11.00

Blood plum, nuts, licorice and some chocolate on a middle weight palate that delivers plenty of flavour along with attractive chewiness and freshness. The length is particularly impressive and closes with a desirable Italianate bitterness, like chicory or similar. Is it the best release of Gran Sasso to date? I suspect so. I defy you to find a more interesting, savoury wine with modest alcohol and food friendliness at the price. If you do, please let me know. It’s ever so slightly better than a 90 point wine ... Regular Price: $25.00

It’s a spicy one, that’s for sure. Dark chocolate, orange peel, liquorice, pepper, cloves, black fruit – feel the blackness and loneliness of Independence! And then rejoice. Flush and full in the mouth, sweet ripe dark fruit but laden with bitter chocolate and spice, juicy orange acidity – but in a good way here – and silty tannin pushing the wine along. For $25 bucks, you’re in for a lot of flavour, good structure and a pretty good time. Fine release. 93 points Winefront.com.au

..Intriguing. Blood and blood plum, rose oil, hazelnut, bitter herb and chocolate. It’s dry and chewy with a fair whack of chalky tannin but has the fruit and density to pull it off with style. Good to drink, interesting to taste…and ripping value to boot. Love it. Drink : 2010 - 2014 90 points Learn More

Third vintage release of the affordable Calo tempranillo and it’s another goodun’. Value plus. It probably needs another 6-12 months in bottle but it’s bonza drinking once again. Glossy vanilla and bueberry. Soft. Has a bit of tannin to it. A bit of chew. Smoky, bacony, chicory length. Bloody good drinking. Gorgeously medium-weight and food friendly. 90 points Winefront
