  1. Domenica Estate Nebbiolo 2017

    Domenica Estate Nebbiolo 2017
The single acre of nebbiolo is grown in a cool, protected southerly pocket on the corner of shale at the southern end off the property. This soil holds more water than the granite, allowing the typically large canopy to maintain its integrity throughout the summer, usually without supplementary irrigation. Tiny yields of three or four bunches per vine develop the intensity of fruit required to make nebbiolo with beautiful structure, and a deep complex core of ripe fruit. Learn More

  3. Domenica Shiraz 2015

    Domenica Shiraz 2015
... because you will love this 2015 Domenica. It’s a little riper than the 2014 and with it comes a little more gravity; more presence. Blackberry and black cherry, anise, slips of roasted nuts, cocoa. But the spice notes, the peppers, the rangey tannin, the finesse; it all remains intact. It’s the best of warmth and the best of cool; it’s night and day in a bottle. Rated : 95 Points Winefront.com.au Learn More

Whilst McLaren Vale is not a large region it is geologically diverse. The Blewitt Springs sub-region is known for deep sandy soils on yellow clays. Shiraz typically ripens later here than other parts of McLaren Vale and displays different characteristics. The sandy soils typically produce shiraz of lifted dark fruit, floral and meaty notes, the tannin is fine yet chalky and the wines are often medium bodied rather than full. This exciting new wine – LDR stands for Light Dry Red – is a 51/49 blend of pinot noir from the high altitude Primavera vineyard with shiraz/syrah from the Sexton vineyard. It builds in the glass quite beautifully. It seems juicy and free-flowing at first but gradually the strings pull tighter. Garden herbs, boysenberries, cloves and red cherries, the balance between its various aspects pitched just so well. It tastes as though it’s hardly trying but that’s what it wants you to think. It’s a savoury shiraz done very well; it’s going to improve over time rather than merely holding; it’s buoyant and succulent and things like that. 93+ points. Calm and pale, but delivers pretty much just the right amount of flavour without becoming to shouty, and I like that in a rosé. Red cherry, fresh picked strawberry, almond, maybe some fennel fronds, and flowers. Delicacy and charm, a soft milky texture with balanced crisp acidity, powdery texture coming through on a long and clean finish. Just lovely. 93 points Gary @Winefront.com.au Learn More

"I tasted 13 wines with Alex Head on Monday, and the 2018s are looking superb. Pretty, a little new leather and spice, raspberry and boysenberry. Medium-bodied, tannin is really good – soft but present – with even acidity, and a subtle savoury / earthy component adding further complexity. Delightful. "A new wine here, replacing the old Nouveau which contained Touriga and other things. Alex Head suggests that Monte is a great grape for the Barossa Valley – the honey badger of grape varieties. Raised in old foudre. Very purple, hazelnut, touch of meat and spice, boysenberry, blueberry. Medium-bodied, dry dusty firm tannin, savoury but with a core of jubey fruit. Some of the grapes character, but tastes regional too. Good drinking here, though I feel it will be better again with a little more time to settle into bottle. " Rated : 91 Points Wine Learn More

Fragrantly scented, tightly structured and finely poised - this wine shows the more reserved, feminine face of the Barossa. Delicately portioned and beautifully balanced its fragrant notes of flowers, creme de cassis and blackberry are supported by an underlying swell of black pepper, cocoa and minerals. Supple, smooth, intense, balanced and very very long and without any hint of over ripeness, its ease of drinking and current enjoyment should not limit what is a very good cellaring future. Really classy and individual wine, such as should be made more often in the Barossa Valley. A be Learn More

"Nose in glass, and first impression is that this is a great vintage for HCE Pinot. Darker fruit profile, but with raspberry in there too, plenty of spice and perfume of dried rose, some lead pencil and cedar happening. It’s medium-bodied, savoury and fruit sweet, almost earthy, and packed with gravelly tannin and bright cherry acidity. The finish is long, spicy, dried herb and cherry-laden, beautiful tannin pushing it out. It puts me in mind of 2013 with its grip and deep fruit. It’s bloody outstanding. Learn More
