Vintage wines are aged as individual components in old oak casks prior to undergoing a vigorous selection program to ensure only the very best components from the best years are introduced into the Grand Tokay blend.
Colour
Mahogany gold in colour with an olive green tint.
Nose
The lifted nose displays an array of honey, rich toffee and tealeaf aromas, combining with aged rancio complexity, whilst retaining intensity and freshness.
The palate has great intensity with a depth of luscious sweet tealeaf, caramel and tokay fruit flavours, perfectly balanced by fresh natural acidity before a clean, lifted finish.
Full mahogany, olive rim; an intensely fragrant and equally complex bouquet; the flavours are more intense and piercing than those of the Muscat, rancio now a cornerstone, but the wine is not heavier or more luscious, simply marking the difference between tokay and muscat; Rating 97
Bright mahogany, with a rim of olive; in another tokay category altogether, its piercing complexity coupled with elegance, a vivid line of rancio running through the butterscotch, tea leaf and honey flavours; has great length and balance. Serve chilled; 500 ml. Screwcap.
16.5% alc. Rating 96 James Halliday
