Quick Overview

How much flavour can you expect from a red wine at this near rock bottom price? When it comes to nero d’Avola (the black grape of Avola, a town in eastern Sicily, and the island’s most widely planted variety), the answer is far more than you might expect. Sealed with a screwcap and from a good vintage, the Lamura may be made in big volumes, but it is exactly the type of spicy, soft-tannined Mediterranean red that shows the promise of modern Sicilian vino. The palate is fresh, clean, fruit driven and dry

Product Description

For many years now Sicily has led the way in Southern Italy in the production of innovative wines from indigenous varieties. Gruppo La-Vis has joined forces with one of Sicily’s leading cooperatives, Bagnolo Chitarra, to produce the Lamura range of excellent value, varietal wines from the hillside slopes in the areas of Marsala and Salemi in south western Sicily. Lamura represents modern winemaking in Sicily, from indigenous varieties and reflects the diverse elements of Sicilian territories. Sealed with screwcap, these varietal wines are at once fruit rich and vibrant, supple yet structured, and intended for immediate enjoyment.

Bright, vivid crimson cherry red. Bouquet Briary blackberry and blackcurrant on the nose. Vibrant pure red and blackberry fruit, with a touch of spice. A characterful, fruit driven red, which is supple and approachable and very, very easy to drink!
