.... it jumped out as irresistible. Not difficult to see why.  If you like the mainstay of Australian grenache, you will like this Spanish version. Sweet fruit, minerally tannin, dry finish. Gunsmoke. Obviously accessible but the fruit has character and class. Black and red licorice. Beautiful freshness. Energetic wine from go to whoa. You just want to drink it. Under $15? Excellent buying.  89 Points Screwcap Drink : 2013 – 2015 . Campbell Mattinson.  www.winefront.com.au
..... The big news is that it's even better than Spain's top-selling red wine in this country. It's an authentic and structured grenache which sets a dynamic contrast between blackberry, plum and liquorice fruit, subtle herbal complexity and firm, fine rustic tannins. This is declassified Campo de Borja from north-eastern Spain, not classified, because that would only make it more expensive.  90 points. A little bottle of deliciousness. I don't score, but if I did, I'd give this 96/100. Rating: 96 Points; Winsor Dobbin, Wine of the Week, January 2013.
... an extremely luscious brandy snap, cumquat, nut and tea palate. This is seriously old material; 375 ml; Rating: 94 Points; James Halliday
... it's refreshingly vibrant, balanced and without any hint of cloying sweetness. Rating: 96 Points; Tyson Stelzer; Wine Taste

One of the Barossa's greatest gifts is its unique collection of fortified port and sherry style wines. This 30 year old (average age) pedro ximinez is sensational, essentially an amontillado sherry with emerging nutty, caramel, apricot and raisin characters, bergamot and racy acidity remaining. Rating 5 stars Tony Love

From the Hickinbotham and Gateway Vineyards; 85% destemmed, 15% whole bunches; 5-day cold soak; wild ferment; basket pressed to French puncheons (40% new). A first class example of McLaren Vale shiraz, with remarkable articulation of black fruits, licorice and bitter chocolate supported and lengthened by positive fine-grained fruit and oak tannins. 97 points James Halliday

  1. Adelina Eternal Return Arneis 2015

    Adelina Eternal Return Arneis 2015

    Regular Price: $25.00

    Special Price: $23.99

    As low as: $23.00

I’ve met Adelina winemaker, Col McBryde, a couple of times. He’s a nice chap. Quiet. Thoughtful. Has a bit of a perky face too. Applies his considerable intelligence to his craft, or so it seems to me. There are no shit wines at Adelina. Arneis is a hard grape to get right, I think, but this is spot on. The balance is all just so, with the right amount of richness of fruit and silky glossy texture, cut back just right with flinty bits and cool acidity. The flavours are probably something like almonds, green pears, fresh herbs and maybe tangerine, with a touch of warmth. Finish is crunchy, like a crisp green pear and its skin.
    Such a lovely wine. 93 points Winefront.com.au

  2. Adelina Eternal Return Nebbiolo 2014

    Adelina Eternal Return Nebbiolo 2014

    Regular Price: $25.00

    Special Price: $23.99

    As low as: $23.00

From a cooler vintage (than the inaugural 2013), the '14 spent less time in barrel and came out with all the elegance and detailed fruit you could home for. Bright as a button and, at this price, guaranteed to bring many happy returns.
"If the spec was to produce a tasty, easy drinking Nebbiolo, that speaks of variety too, then the job's been done. Clean, fresh, strawberry and dusty spice, fennel and floral perfume, perhaps a little almond nougat too. Light bodied, gentle tannin, fresh and tasty, all red fruits and kitten's tongue tannin playing on the finish. It's not particularly long or intense, but is definitely very good to drink." 91 points, Gary Walsh, The Wine Front, Apr 2016

Adelina Polish Hill River Riesling 2016

    Regular Price: $25.00

    Special Price: $24.00

    As low as: $22.00

Subtle white flower/vanilla bean perfume, fennel, stones, and mixed citrus (including tangerine) leads you in to a wine of immediate appeal and character. It’s lean and kind of bony, but delivers a lovely crunch of citrus, zinging but fine acidity, and a fine talc-like texture, which lends a lovely grip to the wine. Yum. Will cellar surely, I’d imagine."

  1. Adelina Watervale Riesling 2016

    Adelina Watervale Riesling 2016

    Regular Price: $25.00

    Special Price: $24.00

    As low as: $22.00

The mature Gulley View vineyard, on red loamy clay over limestone, historically supplied Leo Buring, maker of countless outstanding Rieslings in the past. The fruit is hand picked, whole-bunch pressed, fermented with a mix of indigenous and inoculated yeast and raised in stainless tanks. Crammed with mouth filling texture, stone fruit and apple notes and waterfall fresh acidity, this wine is not at all typically Clare in style; Col halts the ferment with around 7-8g/l residual sugar to balance the site's searing acidity. Just north of 200 cases of the scintillating 2016; what are you waiting for, people? Breakfast in bed?

This is a primal, untamed expression of pure Nebbiolo fruit

Dark cherry, liquorice, violet and dried rose perfume. Medium bodied, fleshy and ripe, with layers of meaty and silky tannin, clean acidity, and an almost bubblegum perfume in the aftertaste. It's good fun now, though I reckon it will be much better with a couple of years in the cellar to let it settle down. What a bargain!
