"The importer of this, Mondo Imports, is bringing in some terrific Italian wines – especially those priced at less than $20.
This puts me in mind of a pinot noir on steroids, with its complex perfumed aromas of cherries and plums, along with perfumed rose petals. Ripe flavours of stewed plums, hazelnuts and chocolate are nicely balanced with juicy acid and assertive, chalky tannins. There’s a slightly bitter, dried-herb finish that adds extra character. Ben Thomas, The Weekly Review"
I’ve been tasting quite a few wines of late that are really good, but sadly lacking in personality. This is not one of them. It’s made from the Aglianico grape grown in the Basilicata region of Southern Italy which borders Campania, Puglia and Calabria. It was going to be a Double Take but time and tide will wait for no man, not even Mattinson… Importer: Mondo Imports
Intriguing. Blood and blood plum, rose oil, hazelnut, bitter herb and chocolate. It’s dry and chewy with a fair whack of chalky tannin but has the fruit and density to pull it off with style. Good to drink, interesting to taste…and ripping value to boot. Love it. Drink : 2010 - 2014 90 points Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
