Quick Overview

Cherry-laden perfume shows some exotic spice, floral notes, pepper too. Chewy sort of texture with a light juiciness at play, sour cherry spectrum flavours, but in great way, and finishes with a little tug of tannins and bright acidity. Neatly put together wine, feels a little understated in best kind of way. I like the vibe here."

Product Description

Stelvin. Like the estate's Dolcetto, Giovanni Angeli has delivered a superb Barbera this year. Cropped from 2.2-hectares of limestone-rich vineyard in Serralunga d'Alba, the vines are Guyot-trained and are approximately 10 to 45-years-old. In terms of the winemaking, the wine fermented for 10-12 days in stainless steel and was raised in the same vessels for a short period of maturation; the wine is usually bottled and released for sale during the spring after the harvest. It's a succulent and perfumed release packed with fleshy blueberry and Satsuma plum flavours and a tangy, vibrant close.

"Massolino’s barbera is often my go-to from their range despite the range soaring into Barolo crus of note. Here, we find low yields and a well-maintained, single vineyard are also elements at play. It hangs out only in stainless steel and is bottled relatively young.
