Quick Overview

In beautiful condition and shape. It tastes beautiful. Raspberry, blueberry and blackberry, no alarms or surprises, complemented by woody spice and fine, smoky oak. Everything is where it should, and where you'd hope, it to be. 94 points James Halliday

Excellent - "...When young it typically shows fresh redcurrant, blackberry and espresso aromas, supple textures, underlying savoury notes and plenty of flavour length. With age it develops greater fruit complexity and buoyant richness." Langton's Classification of Australian Wine VI, 1 May 2014

Product Description

Crimson purple-red in colour. An array of red and black berry aromatics, wild berries and cassis. Generous, with soft texture and fine tannins. Flavours of blackberry and dark cherry with hints of Asian spice and Christmas cake.

Vibrant purple with deep red hues. Dark berries and bramble with a dusting of spices, licorice and dried herbs. Medium bodied with a generous core of ripe black berries and supporting red fruits. Ample structure provided by fine grainy tannins with a long spicy finish.

The aim with Plexus is express the wide spectrum of red fruit flavours from Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre and also provide structure with a seamless balance and long finish. Shiraz 54%, Grenache 32%, Mourvedre 14%. The Shiraz was sourced from old vineyards in the Tanunda, Krondorf and Ebenezer regions, Grenache from the Tanunda and Ebenezer region and Mourvèdre from the Light Pass region.

Matured for 15 months in French oak (10% new). Richly robed in luscious fruits supported by gentle tannins and a dab of oak. It is well made (of course) and is strongly Barossan in temperament. What you make of this will depend on your personal preference. Drink to: 2029; Price: $40.00; Date Tasted: Mar 2017; Alcohol: 14.5%; Rating: 94 Points; James Halliday; James Halliday Wine Companion
