Product Description

The 2007 Heytesbury Chardonnay is bright straw in colour with a green hue. The wine displays beautiful complex aromas, combining savoury elements with ripe fruit perfumes. There are hints of fresh sour dough and toasted vanillin oak spice, with some peach and melon characters. The palate is intense and full bodied, with a creamy texture and lovely fresh acidity that helps to create a balanced, almost seamless wine. Flavours of lemon rind, cinnamon and cloves carry the palate through to the finish with bright citrus notes. The soft, beautifully integrated French oak supports the lingering, textured finish of this superb wine.

5 stars - "Vasse Felix Chardonnay has never been better and under Virginia Willcock the flagship Heytesbury now challenges the best of the region. It is complex, powerful and full-flavoured in the grapefruit spectrum with shaly, quartzy, mineral notes, light structure and bright zesty acidity that finishes crisp and dry."Peter Forrestal, Gourmet Traveller WINE, November 2009

95 points - "A most sophisticated chardonnay which is also the flagship white from Vasse Felix. There is enormous concentration of complex flavours of meal, grapefruit, brioche and roasted cashew, all controlled with a fine, persistent acid. It's still tight yet balanced and will deliver supremely in a few more years.."Ray Jordan, West Weekend Magazine, November 2009

95 points - "Bright straw-green; a powerful and aristocratic wine; upfront complexity from wild yeast ferment and 10 months in French oak gives way to an intense palate, where the nutty/creamy notes of the bouquet are seamlessly folded into piercing, citrus-tinged fruit."James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2010
