...The southern Rhone may not be my bag, but again I’d be jumping into this. Violets, peanuts, dark cherries, kirsch. Controlled. Tight. Needs some bottle age or a decent decant. Takes the more popular opposition in its class to task. Flavour and interest at a terrific price. Rated : 91 Points Winefront
Learn MoreUnusually savoury too. That's really really good. Slight balsamic notes add piquancy and edge, but don't necessarily intrude, though I'd rather they were not there. So much character and life to this wine. 94 points Winefront.com.au
Sophisticated architecture. Oak is a minor player, contributing to the texture but never obstructing the fruit. There’s a joie de vivre about the whole affair which is just impossible to deny. Longevity is pretty much assured. 94+ Excellent
... This may well be about as good as Barossa GSM gets? ... Serious length. And for all those serious bits, still just so irresistibly yum. You’re having your cake and eating it here. 95 points Winefront.com.au
The architecture is stunning. Cranberry accented acidity and ripe, graphite/mineral tannin. It moves from entry to exit without any interruption and the extension is remarkable .... The Mataro’s Asian spice character lingers as an aftertaste. Terrific now and has the potential to be even more special in the years to come. 95+ Excellent – Exceptional Wine Will Eat Itself
A red you can drink in summer, a rosé you can drink in winter. An all year round wine you can drink either chilled or at room temperature. It's sweet-fruited but essentially dry and when chilled it never feels hard - as of course a rose shouldn't. Woodspice, licorice, sweet red berries, fresh leather. It's not in the pale provencal style, that's for sure. But really, you have to try this. Yee-ha value. 92 points Winefront.com.au
"Bright salmon-pink; its scented bouquet is outgunned by the tinkling piano keys of the palate, skipping from one variety to the next and then back again. Roses seldom have fruit-derived mouthfeel, but this one does in spades, and is a bargain by any standards." 94 points, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion 2013
Learn MoreA pronounced rancio character is also evident, derived from extended oak maturation. In a squat, heavy base, clear glass bottle; a very substantial step up the quality tree, the dried fruit/Christmas cake flavours perfectly balanced by gentle rancio. This is a wine which leads you on and on. Average age 10 years; 500 ml. Screwcap. 19.1% alc. Rating 93 James Halliday
Learn MoreThis is the most interesting and intriguing wine I have tried this year, well, for many years perhaps, and just what I think wine should be ... challenging, interesting and individual. Great wine ... full stop ... If you hate surprises, and wish your Barossa reds to taste the same, this is not for you, if you love wine, drop everything and grab this wine! Gavin Trott
