M3 is at the forefront of the ongoing refinement and evolution of Australian Chardonnay. We aim for elegance, restraint, and the capacity to age in bottle. The M3 shows the characters of the cool summer and autumn, with primary fruit notes of nectarine and cumquat, and vivid fresh acidity that provides structure and focus. Youthful and un-evolved at this early stage, it will develop in complexity of the next 5 years
This undoubtedly one of the best chardonnays in Australia. Serious and built to last, it’s refined and elegant and made with true craftsmanship, using wild ferments and allowing the fruit to shine. Stone fruit, lemon zest and grapefruit are at the heart of this white combined with subtle biscuity notes. It’s intense and weighty, balanced by fresh, crisp acid. Pair it with blackened flathead and tomato chilli chutney.
Aiming for elegance, restraint and the ability to age, the acid brings freshness and there’s generosity of flavour. Typically it shows white flowers, citrus, and nectarine notes. The 2015 vintage is true to style. The palate is long and flavoursome, with mid-palate texture and bright acid. A note of brioche adds complexity.
James Halliday 95 Points ............... So much flavour packed into this chardonnay, but never loses focus or detail. Pristine and perfectly ripe fruit, a mix of stone fruit and citrus folded into creamy lees, and ginger notes with a liberal seasoning of integrated French oak spice. A fuller-bodied palate, texture and complexity with ultra-refreshing acidity. No point waiting. (Jane Faulkner) Halliday Wine Companion 2019
Gary Walsh 94 Points The Wine Front, 30 July 2018 ........ Pleasant level of stuck match sulphide, grapefruit, white peach, cinnamon and spice, almond etc. Fine, tight, slight creaminess and almond flavour, crisp exit, some grapefruit and green apple on a pacy and racy finish. Delicious wine. A little Country & Western here, and very good too. Was even thinking about 95 points.
