Quick Overview

"Maybe it doesn’t quite match the substance of the – exceptional – 2015 release but it’s a wine of prettiness, presence and persistence. This is a carefully pieced together pinot noir. It puts reduction to good use/effect; it places cranberries with red/black cherries to aid a general tanginess; it carries slips of green herbs but not so that the wine is defined by them. It’s a detailed wine, finely stitched, with a push of flavour-soaked tannin extending through the finish. The fruit is not overly sweet, but it’s ripe. It’s a pinot that creeps up on you; every time you come back to it, it reveals another positive."

Product Description

The first release of a new “Yarra Valley range” out of Giant Steps. This in the context that Giant Steps has sold the Innocent Bystander name (to Brown Brothers).

Produced from one of the “Top 100 Wineries in the World” the Giant Steps Pinot Noir is complex with terrific varietal character. With a minimalist approach to winemaking this Yarra Valley favourite oozes elegance and drinkability.

"Most of the grapes for this 2016 release were grown on the Tarraford vineyard, with input also from Applejack, Primavera and Sexton. It was fermented in 4000l open oak vats. It sees 25% new oak.
