Quick Overview

"Well. Does it get boring if I simply say that They’ve Done It Again? This is a sophisticated chardonnay, ripped with flint, woodsmoke, meal and toast, its core of grapefruit, slate, white peach and crushed fennel providing both the drive and the substance.

It’s all wound up, like one of those rubber-band toy cars of old, but it still manages to push appreciably through the finish and, I dare say, more is to come as it matures. Rated : 93 Points Winefront.com.au

Product Description

After a difficult 2015 vintage, 2016 began with an unusually warm and dry Spring that was ideal conditions for flowering. The summer was likewise relatively warm and extremely dry, promoting ripeness and resulting in little to no disease pressure. A reatively straight forward and high quality vintage.

Tasting Note:A subtle and pure nose of stone fruits, white flower and grapefruit framed by subtle notes of struck match. The palate is classically elegant and flinty with lime and white peach flavours beginning to unveil whilst carried along by a fine mineral acid backbone. Overall excellent drinking pleasure now but gaining flavour and complexity over the next five to ten years.

"Mania is a joint venture between Jim Chatto and Nicholas Crampton, both of whom have a great many fingers in a great many pies, and both of whom manage (somehow) to consistently produce fantastic wines. According to Jim Chatto “Fruit comes from the old Iron Pot Bay vineyard in northern tassie.
