Quick Overview

highest honour, the Falstaff Winemaker of the Year in 2008.

Cool, youthful, taut and multi-layered. Yellow fruit dominates, nicely supported by grapefruit and herbs and firmly embedded in a mineral background. The texture is pure, austere and dynamic, the body is linear and like cast in stone. Precise and clear. Accompanies most of Austria's culinary specialities. Just at the beginning of its development.

…This is considered by Ott to be his first “serious” GV for the table, and in ’15 it is really another type of wine entirely. Riper, bakier aromas, like a mini-Rosenberg; still some phenolics, it’s overall more spherical than linear; analog and savory; paprika and mint and a lot of grip. Starting to occupy a new country with this. – Terry Theise

Product Description

The Ott family has been producing wine since 1889 in the region of Wagram in Lower Austria, just to the East of the triangle of Kremstal, Kamptal and Wachau. The estate has around 28 hectares of vineyards located around Feuersbrunn and Engabrunn and Bernhard Ott now runs the domaine since taking over the reigns from his father in 1995. The vineyards are farmed according to biodynamic principals and 90% are planted to Gruner Veltliner with the remaining 10% being Riesling. Bernhards wines are pure, textured and driven and has quickly become a cult figure in Austria receiving the country's highest honour, the Falstaff Winemaker of the Year in 2008.
