Quick Overview

Wine Advocate 94 points - The 2017 Cote de Brouilly is superb, unfurling in the glass with aromas of ripe cassis, candied violets and plums. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, rich and concentrated, structured around fine-grained but chewy tannins and tangy balancing acids, with considerable depth and substance at the core. The wine is still quite primary and will need some time to come together, but it’s an excellent rendition of this storied cuvee that resembles the 2011 vintage. (Sep 2018)

Product Description

The Thivin vineyard is located on the foothills of the Massif Central, where a number of small valleys meet on their way to the plain of the river Saône. This Gamay Beaujolais Villages goes excellently with cold meats, poultry and cheese.

In 2008, the domaine began a conversion to organic viticulture that will be finished around 2020. Biodiversity is achieved by placing hay around the edges of the vineyards and herbs and flowers are planted between rows. Natural composts serve as a natural fertilizer. Regular plowing aerates the soils. All grapes are harvested by hand, in mid-September. All parcels undergo separate vinifications. Gravity-fed fermentation cuves. Traditional whole-cluster vinifications. Partial de-stemming.
