Product Description

2010 looks to be a stellar vintage for the red grape varieties.  The fruit-set on Grenache was affected by a burst of heat in November but the good winter and spring rains stood the vines in good stead.  An early start in mild ideal harvest weather has given us fully ripened and flavoured fruit.

A wonderfully rich style.  Exotic, almost turkish delight aromatics leap from the glass.  The Grenache (46%) shows its true colours in the perfume, and the Cabernet and Shiraz add texture to the palate whilst still allowing the wine to retain a lightness of touch for which the Rose of Virginia is known.  A pinch of Pinot Meunier and Mataro add just the merest hint of spice.

Quite dark for a Rosé it has a stunning, ruby raspberry, colour that shows flashes of purple when you swirl the wine in your glass. The aroma doesn't show off quite as much as the colour does and at chilled temperatures most wines true aroma's won't shine through anyway. To drink the wine is rather full-bodied and while hints of strawberries and candied cherries may suggest this wine is sweet, nothing could be further from the truth. Savoury notes more commonly found in traditional red wines, like the capsicum flavours from the Cabernet, balance the total experience out perfectly. The predominant grape variety is Grenache at 46%, but to keep things interesting there is also Cabernet, Shiraz, Pinot Meunier and Mataro...
