Plenty of lavender, dried rosemary, hung game-meats, musk and white pepper. The palate is well weighted with plenty of texture and fruit flavour’s of ripe, plum, blackfruit’s, mulberry and cherry. As to be expected there are the rich savoury and spicy aspects that we love from this variety in abundance. Nutmeg, Dutch licorice and a great earthy weight. Ripe, chalky tannins wrap in to a long persistent finish.

Blue and black fruit, peppermint and creamy nougat oak. Ripe, but only just nudging full bodied, with a smooth and even palate, good acid balance, fine tannin, and a long sweetly fruited finish. The architecture is stunning. Cranberry accented acidity and ripe, graphite/mineral tannin. It moves from entry to exit without any interruption and the extension is remarkable .... The Mataro’s Asian spice character lingers as an aftertaste. Terrific now and has the potential to be even more special in the years to come. 95+ Excellent – Exceptional Wine Will Eat Itself
