Review : "If anything this 2014 Leconfield Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon is the exact opposite of green – it’s teetering on too ripe. Sexy ripe though. Very dark red in colour, it’s concentrated and thick from the outset, with a very lush coffeed blackberry richness with a dash of eucalypt. Ahoy Coonawarra! Polished and silky, the style is silky smooth, fleshy and lavish, every bit the ripe and berry fleshed wine you expect it to be, complete with bitter tannins and warming alcohol.

My only quibble that it's a bit too warm and there’s no subtlety. Still, for weight, juiciness and silky length this is very easy to like. I may even be scoring it too lowly. Best drinking: 2018-2030. 18.1/20, 93/100.14.5%, $40." Ozwinereview

.....It tastes like the future of Barossa Mataro. Just 1290 bottles produced.
Dark maroon-purple, it's genuinely fragrant - which is revelatory for dour old Barossa Mataro - with the spicy whole bunch fruit giving a whole new sexy edge. There's a lightness and freshness of black fruit, tilled earth and fine tannins, if not quite the depth and length of a superstar. Gee this is much more approachable and lively than nearly any other Barossan Mataro though! Love the licoricey fruit and refreshing style.
    Yes. Yes yes yes.
    Best drinking: 2015-2025
    Score: 18/20, 93/100
Would I buy it? If I saw this on a list I'd buy it for sure. - Andrew Graham OzWineReview"

Sons of Eden Zephyrus Shiraz 2014

    Regular Price: $31.50

    Special Price: $30.00

    As low as: $28.50

Juicy forest berries with a jasmine perfume, spice, dried herbs, choc-mint fondant. Medium to full bodied, bitter chocolate and juicy dark berries, silky glossy feel with fine grained tannin that provides traction on the finish, to tighten it up. Feels fresh, but not forced, and the oak is beautifully taken up. Effortless Shiraz of polish and high drinking appeal."

61% Barossa Valley, 39% Eden Valley, cold soak and post-ferment maceration, matured for 18 months in new and used French and American oak. Purple-crimson; a beautifully wrought and detailed palate, so supple it literally glides through to the finish and aftertaste without even a momentary pause for thought. Will live for decades, but can also be consumed tonight.

Ripened to within an inch of its life but it remains bright and lively. Whole bunch influence adds a smoky, twiggy savouriness to the sweetness of the fruit. Licorice and raspberry fruit flavour laid on.
    Web-like tannin. Delicious style. 93 points Winefront.com.au

There's a layer of ferruginous clay between them. It smells more dusty than sandy, with maraschino cocktail cherries and bittersweet pickled morello cherries soused together in lemon juice; maybe there's pithy strawberries in the bowl, too. The dark morellos dominate the flavour, which is a neat, tight, linear arrangement with a hint of fresh soft licorice. It's fine of flesh, and its viscosity is just right for those joyous, open-hearted flavours. It's more like an elegant entry-level burgundy from, say, the Seysses family's Domaine Dujac, than any traditional Ocker Grenache. 93++ Points Phillip White

Bright, clear crimson purple, the ultra-fragrant small red fruits of the bouquet do not prepare you for the power of the palate, with foresty/stemmy tannins woven through the abundant red berry/cherry fruits providing texture as well as a flavour counterpart to the juicy red fruits on the long finish. 95pts James Halliday

This is good Pinot, you can tell straight off the bat. Red fruits, light dusting of cinnamon spice and aromatic herbs, some meaty smoky complexity too, oak very much in the background. Light to medium bodied, crunchy sort of cranberry acidity and flavour, emery tannin, clean pure fruit and a long controlled finish. Depth + vivacity. Fits the bill for drinking young, or popping in the cellar if you fancy a little bit more. So tasty! 94 points Gary Walsh Winefront.com.au"

From the Tamar Valley, 50% barrel-fermented in French oak. The wine is still quartz-white, but has terrific drive and intensity to its pink grapefruit and green apple fruit flavours, the length of the finish formidable. 94 points James Halliday
Tangy lemon drink, green pear, perfumed dusty cedar wood. Light to medium bodied, zesty and acid driven – just on the cusp of ripeness – flavours mainly lemon but with a very subtle softening gloss of almond cream. Closes all perky and flinty.  Zing. Refreshing style for lusty drinking. 91 points Winefront.com.au

Looking for 'texture, rather than rich aromatics', winemaker James Healy and viticulturist Ivan Sutherland fermented and lees-aged their 2013 vintage (5*) Sauvignon Blanc for 18 months in seasoned French oak casks. Hand-harvested in the Dog Point Vineyard (for which 'Section 94' was the original survey title), at the confluence of the Brancott and Omaka valleys, and fermented with indigenous yeasts, it is light lemon/green, with a complex bouquet. Mouthfilling and sweet-fruited, it is poised and youthful, with lively acidity and concentrated, multi-faceted flavours, showing lovely depth and harmony. It's still developing, but already delicious.
    Arguably the best yet. -

"An elegant, vibrant and fragrant nose with lemon, lime and pear in the foreground. Notes of peach blossom and subtle jasmine create lift and combines with cardamom pod, almond meal and roasted cashew. The palate has immense purity, with power and persistence. Lime and lemon pith define the palate, which carries through to a delicately layered middle, threaded with a fine mineral spine. Sesame seed and blanched almonds enhance complexity, finishing with a sparkling acid structure. This wine has energy in its youth, and will build texture with cellaring." - Leeuwin Estate.
