.....flavoursome, but stylish wine, ripped with blackberry, clove and toast-like flavours and with excellent extension of fruit and tannin through the finish. It’s not the pits, it’s excellent. This will live and mature over a very long time. It feels sturdy.” 94 points Campbell Mattinson Winefront.com.au
“Exquisite shiraz-dominant wine which uses small parcels of Mataro and Grenache to add complexity and a delightful floral influence. The previous vintage was good, this one is better. Love its lightness of touch and beautifully seductive nose. Effortlessly long palate with such brightness and life. Terrific”. 96/100 Ray Jordan ... concentrating the flavour profile of plum and blackberry fruit, complexity further aided by the inclusion of small amounts of Grenache and Mataro. Matured in French oak (20% new) which has not blunted the tannins. The wine is complete in every way. 95 points James Halliday

Sitting where I sit, it’s easy lately to forget that wines like this exist. This is really clean crisp Cabernet from one of the places on Earth it grows best.

It’s all coffee and cocoa and mocha, cedary oak and blueberries, musk and faint lavender and violets, clean as a whistle and ready to swell and turn and glower with a decade in a good cellar. Once again made after the old (1950s) Penfolds open fermenters/temperature control/pumpover method, it delivers a similar result at just a bit of the price of their best.

As it plays around in your mouth, its slender and sinuous form does that magical transformation from silky and elegant viscosity to velvet, with the right level of acid and drying fine-grained tannins sorting all the slick stuff out, letting them all trickle through the organoleptic division in the right order at the right pace.

Right now I’m loving it with crumbly sheep’s cheese, lemon juice, basil and black pepper on dark rye. I could drive myself nuts dreaming of having it with simply grilled lamb cutlets, pink and dribbling, and mash. It makes your cheeks leak; opens the salvaries till they gush.

Maybe too clinically bright for the dirty-arse funkster fanatics, it’s a damn good reflection of the noble Cabernet at its arrogant, aromatic best. Regardless of the politics, I can’t imagine anybody refusing a glass." 93+ Points

"Rugged with tannin but the fruit here seems up to the task. A good stint in the cellar is certainly going to be required. Blackcurrant, eucalypt, gravel and swish, polished, cedar oak. Brilliant value for the patient. 94+ points Winefront.com.au"
Wine Companion tasting note. Rating: 95 points price $28.00 Date Tasted: 01 Dec 2014 Alcohol:13.5%
Deep dark colour, plenty of flavour, feels gutsy throughout but not in any way loose or undisciplined. Impressive wine. Cassis, eucalypt, smoky/cedary oak and various floral characters. Assured through the finish. Tannin builds up a head of steam; cellar time is required but the quality is there.

Whole berries. Whole bunches. Wild yeast. All French oak, only 20% new. ... Deep flavour. But lively. This is terrific drinking. Rich and generous but honed and architectural. Plums, blackberries, saltbush and a swoosh of cedarwood. A touch of red-fruited brightness. Cracking wine. 95 points Campbell Mattinson Winefront.com.au
96 points & special value star. “12 vineyard blocks; 50% whole berries, 20% whole bunches, open-fermented. Deep, but bright crimson-purple; this is full-bodied McLaren Vale shiraz at its very best, not the least extractive or clumsy, simply complex, the result of top quality fruit and highly intelligent winemaking.” - James Halliday (Australian Wine Companion)

A 49/29/22% blend of grenache, shiraz and mourvedre. Hand-picked, mechanically sorted, 50% whole berries, cold soak, open fermenters, plunged, wild yeast-fermented, kept on lees in 100% used French oak for 9 months. Brilliant hue; the wine effortlessly communicates its distinguished breeding, the medium-bodied palate with a silken line of fruit, then a thin coat of fine, savoury tannins. Drink By: 2028

Distinct Aussie bushwalk scents of earth, eucalyptus, wet leaves, sweet paperbark bark. There’s dark berries and plum going on, but it’s that savoury lift that defines the wine. Medium weight, glossy in texture, crisp acidity lending a freshness as the sweet slick of red-black fruit glides across the palate. There’s leafy notes through the wine, light sandy tannins, and it finishes with a little saline character. All up, it’s a bright, flavoursome wine, with fine structure; an easy wine to come at and drink or cellar. Bewdy. "93 points Winefront.com.au

With its deep, dense purple-red colour and superb blueberry, blackcurrant and violet-scented bouquet, this is a refined, elegant cabernet at a bargain price. It’s quite stylish, with abundant fine-grained tannins that run the length of the palate. It shows unbounded potential. Cellar it!” – 95 Points & Wine of the Week Huon Hooke - Value Outstanding

“From 45yo vines. The good depth to the colour signals a wine with all the deliciously soft and fleshy mid-palate fruit Langhorne Creek can provide, yet leaving it with fine, savoury tannins to highlight its varietal character.” – 94 Points & Special Value Wine James Halliday

"This is a picture perfect example of Margaret River chardonnay, with nectarine, white peach and grapefruit criss-crossed with creamy/ figgy notes on the one hand, citrussy acidity on the other; oak has simply been a means to an end.  Alcohol: 13%"
    94 points  James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au.
......seamlessly folds the fruit flavour together with the influences of fermentation with natural yeasts in new and used French oak barrels – followed by maturation in those barrels. The technique gives the wine a rich, silky texture to carry the beautiful fruit flavours satisfyingly across the palate. Chris Shannahan

Really lovely rose and dried herb perfume, spice, raspberry and cherry. It’s just medium bodied, with firm fine grained tannin, gently earthy savoury flavours playing with those high toned florals and red fruits. Pulls dry and grainy on the finish, but
never loses its charm and high drinking appeal. 94 points Winefront.com.au"
