Full crimson-purple; from a single old vine vineyard in the Ebenezer district of the Barossa Valley. A very different wine to 429, with a more lacy and open texture, travelling to spice and pepper flavours more typical of much cooler regions. Once again, it is the lightness of touch on the finish that makes the wine. 96 points James Halliday

THE WINE FRONT - Campbell Mattinson, - This mourvedre from Turkey Flat spent 20 months in French oak puncheons. We have another winning mourvedre here. It's dark berried and earthen, leathery and polished. Spicy, cedary oak makes a delicious contribution and its grainy, assertive, rusty tannin is a highlight. Lovely length. Medium-bodied but almost porty in its ripeness. Beautiful wine to drink even now though it can be cellared with confidence too. Rating: 94 Points

Grüner Veltliner at its best displays beautiful pink grapefruit scents with lots of mineral undertones -- Light gold with greenish glints, creamed minerals, lots of pink grapefruit and apply fruit, with some straw undertones.Soft-textured, yet with a crisp, zesty mouthfeel. Fresh stoniness with lots of dry bitter-apple and lemon-lime fruit. Long, refreshing finish. Very distinctive.

Black core with a brick red rim. Dark plum, mulberry and blackberry are harmonious with black pepper, cedar and hints of vanilla. A rich confit of black fruits, liquorice and dark chocolate combine to build a full bodied style with balanced acidity and firm chewy tannins.

This is the most interesting and intriguing wine I have tried this year, well, for many years perhaps, and just what I think wine should be ... challenging, interesting and individual. Great wine ... full stop ...  If you hate surprises, and wish your Barossa reds to taste the same, this is not for you, if you love wine, drop everything and grab this wine! Gavin Trott

It’s a very solid, rich and concentrated nose, perhaps a little obvious for some but that obviousness is more just regional character to me. The palate too is utterly Vale derived, with more chocolate fudge-mocha rich fruit and oak, built full bodied, rich and decadent with that lovely tarry/red berried middle that the Vale does so well. Long, even, ripe and powerful….”
