From the first look at the colour, dark black red, through the perfumed nose, then the power packed palate, this is clearly going to be a class wine! ... dark fruits, black berries, plums, liquorice, then opening up to add touches of vanilla, a sliver of chocolate, spices and a hint of cream. The palate too is super intense, densely packed fruits, layers of black berry, plum, super ripe raspberries and liquorice, with a really creamy mouthfeel. The finish is very long, with loads of soft and fine tannins.
This is a wine with power, yet structure, intense and tight, with a huge future in front of it. Indeed, it was at its best, and getting better, three hours later. Class all the way! Gavin Trott

THE WINE FRONT - Campbell Mattinson, - This mourvedre from Turkey Flat spent 20 months in French oak puncheons. We have another winning mourvedre here. It's dark berried and earthen, leathery and polished. Spicy, cedary oak makes a delicious contribution and its grainy, assertive, rusty tannin is a highlight. Lovely length. Medium-bodied but almost porty in its ripeness. Beautiful wine to drink even now though it can be cellared with confidence too. Rating: 94 Points
Learn More.....A blend of mataro, shiraz, grenache and cinsaut that joyously reflects the '10 vintage with its cascade of red cherry, raspberry, strawberry - plus any other berry you care to name - and a long finish that is at once silky and savoury. 95 points James Halliday
..... The florals and spices on display here are exotic and captivating: dried flowers, red cherries, greengage plums, mixed spice and pepper. The delight of the bouquet flows all the way through the palate, carried by a finely structured, silky backbone of carefully textured tannins. 94 points Tyson Tselzer
A little Szechuan pepper, licorice, black and blue fruits, thyme and mountain herbs. It sports a set of rugged, manly tannin, fresh acidity and plenty of chew and interest. Briary. Authentic. Balanced. You just know drinking it makes you more handsome - boys and girls alike. Roger that Roger. Rated : 94 Points Drink: 2012 - 2022+ Winefront.com.au
Learn More..... Normally I'm a cynical man and a cynical taster, but I kept coming back to this. I couldn't not like it. I couldn't not like the wonderful energy and concentration of the style. I put it down, I picked it back up again. Superb, 'essence of black grapes' juice. 95 points
... finally a hint, like its been dusted with icing sugar. Its young, but its balanced, its already complex with a huge upside, and it has a very fine tannin edged structure. Wow, great stuff, intriguing and sophisticated, serious wine that is seriously under priced! Fine fine sensitive wine making on some superb quality fruit. We loved it, so will you! - The auswine panel

Full crimson-purple; from a single old vine vineyard in the Ebenezer district of the Barossa Valley. A very different wine to 429, with a more lacy and open texture, travelling to spice and pepper flavours more typical of much cooler regions. Once again, it is the lightness of touch on the finish that makes the wine. 96 points James Halliday
