Tagged as the “baby brother” to their flagship Vat 47 chardonnay, the Moon Mountain has soft white peach and melon aromas with some nutty nuances shining through. With a creamy mouthfeel, ripe peach, nectarine and subtle biscuit flavours, this refined chardonnay is all about the fruit, with some added flavour from a mixture of new and seasoned French oak.

Natural yeast, barrel ferment, partial malo, lots of lees stirring. Delamere is a key wine estate of the Tamar Valley region, with densely planted vineyards (in Australian terms). Tour de force complexity. Smoke, peach, matchsticks, ripe lemon, nuts. Pours it on. Big aromatics and big flavour, though long and chalky / minerally through the finish. Fantastic length. The wine displays fresh green tinges on a pale straw colour. The nose exhibits aromas of fresh cut pear and honey dew melon with some zesty citric notes. There are no overt woody or buttery aromas with the primary fruit characters expressed with clarity and definition. The palate is fresh and lively with clean crisp acidity complementing the vibrant fruity flavours. The palate has very good extension and ends clean and bright. This is a restrained style of Australian Chardonnay and highlights how far we have come with this style of wine over the last decade.
