The new 2010 Basket Pressed Shiraz is finally here. A glass full of vibrant berry and cherries upfront with those savoury descriptors that though sounding odd, (tabacco leaf, dried spices, roast gravy reduction), add that all important complexity and interest that all your favourite wines seem to have. Good vintage, great wine.

Bright red berry fruits on the nose with lots of spice and pepper and a hint of oak. Young and vibrant, it's bigger and more savoury than the nose suggests, with black fruits, liquorice, mint, meat, pepper, spice and a touch of oak. It needs some time to soften but has lovely black and red berry fruits, savoury and spicy

The result is a wine with excellent depth of colour, richness and complexity. Dense black purpley red in colour with an aroma exhibiting a mix of fresh briary almost blackcurrant tones, balanced with violets and dark plums, finishing with an earthy, savoury complexity. The palate is full bodied demonstrating Barossa Valley hallmarks of richness, density and concentration. Silky fruit complexity is the key here with both red and dark jubey flavours.
