...The southern Rhone may not be my bag, but again I’d be jumping into this. Violets, peanuts, dark cherries, kirsch. Controlled. Tight. Needs some bottle age or a decent decant. The nose is expressive and inviting with aromas of strawberries and cream, raspberry and redcurrant fruits with hints of white pepper, spice, thyme, licorice and creamy lees characters. ...again with an attractive white pepper lift poking through the vibrant fruit.. The wine finishes, long, dry and savoury.

Made by the unflappable Javier Murua. Almost entirely tempranillo but co-fermented with a smidge of grenache. Sees a small portion of old French and American oak. Elegant yet characterful and then punchy through the finish. Has structure. Has a big dry finish. Licorice and cherry and twiggy sinewy almost-bitter notes. Chicory too. A grunty wine. Will be a handy drinking option through the cooler months. Like it. 90 points Winefront
