    Special Price: $43.50

A textural wine combining the fineness and acid line from Huon Valley fruit, and the muscle and intensity of the Derwent parcel... White nectarines, Meyer lemons and subtle hints of oatmeal and nougat are evident. While the acidity is tightly wound, it is also lush and opulent with the palate toeing a fine balance between fruit succulence, underlying minerality and racy, nervy acidity.

A 78/11/11% blend of cabernet, merlot and malbec matured in French oak for 18 months.

A Margaret River classic, albeit with a niche all of its own given by the juicy freshness of the palate, and by its effortless length and finish.
Simply beautiful. 96 Points James Halliday

Really lovely rose and dried herb perfume, spice, raspberry and cherry. It’s just medium bodied, with firm fine grained tannin, gently earthy savoury flavours playing with those high toned florals and red fruits. Pulls dry and grainy on the finish, but
never loses its charm and high drinking appeal. 94 points Winefront.com.au"

  1. First Drop Mothers Milk Shiraz 2015

First Drop Mothers Milk Shiraz 2015
    $25.00

Not a sledgehammer style, this Barossa Shiraz is made for drinking! Soft, slurpy and textured it is balanced with good acidity, which refreshes the palate and makes you go back for a second / third glass. Sourced from 2 unique vineyards, it is fruit laden, savoury and dangerously easy to drink! It is matured for 12 months in French oak hogsheads to allow the fruit to express itself.

Garnet red with purple hues, a complex nose of dark cherry and blackberry aromas with a hint of forest floor and spice. Vibrant dark cherry and blackberry with a hint of ‘wombat rolled in all spice’ balanced with an even, textural palate with soft, supple tannins

2014 Butchers Block White - Mouth-filling, delicious, interesting wine.

A blend of around half marsanne with viognier the next most blended grape, and a lesser but significant portion of roussanne. An early adopter of white blends, particularly Rhone-ish things. Spends some time in oak too.

Ripper wine this. Smells like quince and lemon butter with some ginger spice thrown in. Light golden colour suggests richness, and it’s there – curvy edges but mouthwatering acidity underlying. Refreshing finish but layers of fruit, nougat and spice found throughout the palate. I imagine this with cold cuts or a terrine and how well it would go.
Mouth-filling, delicious, interesting wine. 92 points Mike Bennie

2013 Butchers Block Red - 'Excellent value'

48% Shiraz, 28% Grenache, 24% Mataro. Nice packaging. New I suspect, but I’m long out of touch with the goings on at Turkey Flat.

Black fruits, sweet spices, new leather and earthy complexity, perhaps a mint and dried flower perfume. Medium bodied, but fleshy and smooth in the mouth, with very fine dense tannin, a mix of red and black fruit, all nicely spiced, then savoury finish of good length.
Right in the slot. Excellent value. Gary Walsh The Wine Front March 2015

    Reviews and Awards

Grown mostly on 100 year old vines though some younger vines give it a hand.

Both sturdy and pretty at once. Aniseed, raspberry, sand and loam flavours with a rusty, clovey edge. Feels structural and firm as it machines its way through the mouth. An earth wine with a flush of berried/floral fruit. Quality style, and wine. Rated : 93+ Points Tasted : Apr15 Alcohol : 14.5% Price : $29 Campbell Mattinson the Wine Front April 2015

    2013 Grenache - 'delicious delight'

Tapping into one of the Barossa's great resources, vines that have been producing for a century, here dominating the fruit that goes into this simply juicy and delicious delight, smelling of fragrant fruit orchards, leaf, trunk and earth, with a soft, medium-weight, squelchy and generous cherry box set of flavours, subtle woods, gentle and generous red fruits. A sum of many regional elements. 4 stars Value: Tempting Tony Love, The Adelaide Advertiser Taste March 25 2015

Wicks Estate Adelaide Hills Shiraz 2013

    Regular Price: $21.50

Dark cherry and black fruit flavours, cool climate spice and elegance all gently integrate with fine silken tannins highlighting the careful selection of French oak barriques.

Single vineyard; multiple batches, variously fermented and macerated, matured in French barriques (34% new). The bouquet is inviting, but doesn't prepare you for the explosion of exceptionally intense flavour as the wine enters the mouth; it is almost inevitable that it should back off somewhat on the back-palate,
but this is still a very good wine, and a steal at the price. 94 points James Halliday

S.C. Pannell Dead End Tempranillo 2015

    Regular Price: $27.99

    Special Price: $26.50

100 % Tempranillo from the Koomilya & Sellicks Hill vineyards in McLaren Vale. The must was traditionally vinified in small open-top fermenters for 10 days. Aged for seven months in large format French and Hungarian oak vats and puncheons, 20% of which were new. This is highly perfumed, vibrant and complex with sweet black cherries, sarsaparilla, and good hints of exotic spice. A plush, light- to medium-bodied, juicy wine with leafy, dusty tannins on the finish.
