Bleasdale Frank Potts Cabernet Blend 2012

    Regular Price: $31.00

    Special Price: $30.00

    As low as: $29.00

.....Bright crimson-purple; has absorbed the oak while preserving the cassis fruits and softening the tannins; good length and balance. Drink to 2027." 94 points James Halliday, James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2015, 1 August 2014
..... Langhorne fruit exuberance, all blackberried and blueberried, but with grainy, smoky, gum leafy tannin keeping it firm and strict and proper. Full-bodied but not overdone. Sound, fruit-filled length. Oak as a complement but not in an overt and dominant manner. Will keep developing in the cellar over a good number of years. 93+ points Winefront

Eden Road Wines the Long Road Shiraz 2011

    Regular Price: $24.00

    Special Price: $22.99

    As low as: $21.50

Light but bright hue; a very elegant wine with a core of red cherry and plum fruit, supported rather than challenged by superfine tannins and oak (10% new French puncheons). Making a better shiraz given the vintage would have been nigh on impossible, but it is probable this wine will principally appeal to lovers of pinot noir. 94 points James Halliday

Eden Road Wines the Long Road Pinot Noir 2012

    Regular Price: $24.00

The use of 25% whole bunches in the fermentation of this wine provides a sappy cold tea aromatic lift that sits comfortably alongside fragrant red fruits and a suggestion of spicy oak; the palate reveals a muscular structure, with fine tannins and chalky acidity leading to a generously long finish; will reveal more suppleness and finesse with time in bottle. 92 points James Halliday

    Regular Price: $25.00

    Special Price: $22.00

Distinctly peppery and stalky, vanilla and floral perfume, chocolate and black fruit – like a serious furrowed brow Pinot Noir! Medium to full bodied, pretty firm and tense in the mouth, not so slippery and seductive as previous releases; the blond has gone all librarian on us and means business. But let’s get down to business! Chocolate, vanilla and stalk with firm tannin on a long finish. Interesting. I like it. Stamp my card. 95 points Winefront.com.au

    Head Wines the Brunette 2013

    Regular Price: $53.99

    Special Price: $51.50

    As low as: $50.00

Dark chocolate, bit of earth and tar, extra dark spices, some mint and black fruit. Medium to full bodied, has some orange tang to the acidity, firmer more sticky tannin than the Blonde and a kind of beef jerky flavour in the mix. Finishes with a spray of dried herb. Looks a little jangly freshly opened, and certainly needs some more time in bottle, but it’s almost certain to improve.

  3. Yelland & Papps Devote Shiraz Rousanne 2011

Yelland & Papps Devote Shiraz Rousanne 2011
    $33.00

$35; 13.5% alcohol; screw cap; 94+ points Phillip White - THIS wine just stole my tattered heart.
My first taste of a Shiraz Roussanne blend came in the form of d’Arenberg’s The Wild Pixie 2008. This has an even larger Roussanne component of 15% and it’s actually the better wine  ...  Flagrantly floral and outrageously perfumed. Purple fruits, anise, pepper, raspberry and a whole cornucopia of other fragrances. The white grape influence is not only apparent on the nose but also the palate which is silky and slippery with fine, drying tannin. It’s a crazy ride but an enjoyable one just the same. If John Waters made a wine this would be it. 93 Very Good Wine Will Eat Itself

  1. Yelland & Papps Second Take Grenache 2013

Yelland & Papps Second Take Grenache 2013

    Regular Price: $38.00

    Special Price: $35.00

30% whole bunches were incorporated in the 10-day ferment, then taken to French oak (36% new) for 10 months; neither filtered nor fined; 14% Barossa Valley grenache; whole bunch fermentation. Yelland & Papps are certainly challenging the status quo, and doing so with great elan. This is awash with juicy red fruits, the finish bright and lively, rather than squashy; fruit, oak and acidity in absolute harmony.

Dob in and buy one each of these. Then bring three conventional favourites, pour ’em blind, and argue all night.
Deep, bright crimson-purple; the deeply-fruited bouquet leads into an immaculately balanced and structured medium- to full-bodied palate, with plum, black cherry and blackberry to the fore, quality oak and fine-grained tannins bringing up the finish. 95 points James Halliday

....We have a live one here, and unusually for a $20 Shiraz it deserves, nay demands, to be served in a big Shiraz glass.
    Excellent 93 points Winefront.com.au

.... the length of the palate is nothing more than an inevitable consequence of all that has gone before.
This is ridiculous value for a wine that can be drunk soon, or in 20 years.
