  2. Coriole Shiraz 2008

    Coriole Shiraz 2008
Savoury and ferrous with black fruit and a bit of chocolate. It’s dry and largely savoury but has a juicy blackberry pastille flavour in the mix. Dry, hot year tannins, offer a bit of grip and chew, but it feels good in the mouth – rugged and authentic. Touch of bitterness on the finish but an all round excellent wine. Really enjoyed drinking it. It’s a good example of the more ‘adult’ style of McLaren Vale Shiraz – the kind I like best. Rated : 92 Points Winefront.com.au Learn More

Dark fruit bursts onto the palate. The vibrant acid carries the juicy plummy fruit and bitter chocolate seamlessly through the palate and continues to roll on and on balanced by firm, but fine tannins. This wine is from probably our best vintage to date and will need a few months to settle down, but will age over the medium to long term and will drink well for at least the next decade.

This not just a triumph for the tough 2011 vintage, it’s a wine of beauty, alluring internal harmony and inherent balance. I didn’t expect to like it much at all,

but I found it nothing less than compellingly, gloriously enticing.

...  pretty much pitch perfect for a Coonawarra red. Medium-weight but strong and robust. Blackcurrant all the way, with (overt) eucalypt and bay leaf and integrated smoky oak. It’s perfumed and fleshy and yet taut and controlled. Noticeable acidity but excellent balance as a whole.
A top vintage of Majella cabernet – for the long haul.94 points

  3. Water Wheel Memsie 2008

    Water Wheel Memsie 2008
Look out, they've done it again up at Waterwheel, delivering one of Australia's best-value reds, a blend of shiraz, malbec, and cabernet sauvignon. The nose is a mix of bright, ripe dark fruits, plums, cassis, blackberries and more. Terrific weight and poise on the palate; flavours follow the aromas, and tannins skate smoothly through the finish. Amazing value here. 91 Points Good Wine Guide Learn More

  2. Yalumba Patchwork Shiraz 2009

    Yalumba Patchwork Shiraz 2009
    $21.99

The result is a wine with excellent depth of colour, richness and complexity. Dense black purpley red in colour with an aroma exhibiting a mix of fresh briary almost blackcurrant tones, balanced with violets and dark plums, finishing with an earthy, savoury complexity. The palate is full bodied demonstrating Barossa Valley hallmarks of richness, density and concentration. Silky fruit complexity is the key here with both red and dark jubey flavours.

.. Wonderfully generous palate is ripe and slippery but not sweet. Not hard to like a juicy, ripe, no-nonsense Vale Shiraz like this. 17.5/91 points Australian Wine Review

... meat, spice and dark fruits on the nose ... and soft silky tannins with a long finish. Polished and fascinating.  93 points James Suckling

...enticing rather than overbearing and it lingers beautifully on the finish. A fine wine for the price .... Winingpom

... Has an earthy goodness about it too. Benefits from a quick slosh in the decanter. Excellent red wine. Rated : 92 Points Winefront
