Green pear, citrus, apricot kernel and a few dried herbs, but perhaps ‘cooly fruity’ is a good way to describe it. It’s clean and refreshing with excellent fruit purity and a little bit of ‘mineral’, perhaps there’s a touch of sweetness to round out and balance, but feels pretty much dry and pulls that way with its gently herbal and sparkling finish. Well, maybe not ultra-complex, but so good to drink. 91 points Winefront.com.au
Learn MoreThe best vintage of Joshua ever, might I suggest? A pretty wine with its floral top notes, but also one of depth and exquisite balance. Raspberry, blackberry, baking spice and earthy bits – plenty to sink your teeth into here. It’s medium bodied with an uninterrupted flow of flavour, a smooth web of fine tannin and a very long finish. So satisfying. Textbook Barossa GSM blend stuff. 94+ points WIne front.com.au
Learn MoreThe family that owns Pico Maccario is a true Barbera specialist! With an intense purple color, this wine features a bouquet of plum and cherry with hints of baking spice. It has a super silky mouthfeel, finishing in sweet fruit and velvety tannins. A rich, satisfying glass sure to please any crowd. ... A scent of pine or rosemary leads off, followed by flavors of pure black cherry and blackberry. This has density and grip, but in proportion with the juicy fruit. Drink now through 2016.
Learn MoreWell integrated toasty/bacony oak. And a lemony tang through the finish to complete the job nicely. At first I couldn’t find the X-factor – and then, a couple of hours from opening, it really started to rumble. Time in the cellar should work wonders for this little beauty. Vivid crimson-purple; like a rich little boy, has everything he wishes; a fragrant dark berry bouquet with notes of French oak, leather and spice, than a full-bodied palate with a dazzling array of flavours; however, it is in the supple texture, perfect balance and line that the greatness of the wine finally takes shape.” 97 Pts James Haliday, Australian Wine Companion
Learn MoreWell, if a rosé is made by such Burgundy royalty as DRC’s Aubert de Villaine and Dujac’s Jacques Seysses; a bloke sort of has to try it, hey? this is based on old vines Cinsault, a variety not known for its power and complexities, to add fragrance and zip to their reds. In this, the variety’s characteristic rosés, seem to appear not only in the aromatics, but also in a radiant rose pink colour. This is so textured, long and fresh and it plays out with a tingling backbone and a nice drying, savoury note at the end. This is worth finding. Don’t know if I’ve seen a better rosé...
