The Majella Shiraz first appeared in 1991 and has since acquired a reputation as one of Coonawarra's finest Shiraz's.
Dark red in colour with purple hues, the wine is redolent of cinnamon spice with overlays of cedary mocha oak. The palate shows great length, full of plums, cherries, blackberries and vanilla – creamy and sweet! The tannins are quite soft and complement the long, lingering finish. We present it as a great example of Coonawarra Shiraz at its very best.
“-to your average red drinker this is manna from heaven. -it’s right in the Majella groove.” Campbell Mattinson
Learn Morea complex mixture of ripe blackberry and plum fruit with a dash of creamy vanillin oak. The palate is medium to full bodied which starts with some sweet plummy fruit, the flavour then builds in the palate to provide an explosion of raspberry flavours. There is some lovely mouth coating tannins which combine with dark chocolate oak and fruit to provide a great depth and length of flavour.

Full crimson-purple; co-fermented with a small percentage of viognier, and matured in (roughly) one-third each new, one-year-old and two-year-old high quality French oak. It is a style I have always liked, its supple mouthfeel, generous black fruits and soft tannins coming together with the oak in a harmonious finish. 95 points James Halliday

WOW, power and intensity from the west. From the area renowned for cabernet sauvignon, shiraz lives in the shadows, but should never be ignored. Earthy, tobacco and dark fruits give this wine a brooding intensity. Juicy blackberry and plum, coffee and dry, intensely gripping tannin add some real punch. Firm, youthful and very bold, this is attractive on many levels. This is worth finding. Value: Excellent Food: Roast beef Rating: 4/5 Tony Love
...The southern Rhone may not be my bag, but again I’d be jumping into this. Violets, peanuts, dark cherries, kirsch. Controlled. Tight. Needs some bottle age or a decent decant. Takes the more popular opposition in its class to task. Flavour and interest at a terrific price. Rated : 91 Points Winefront

THE WINE FRONT - Campbell Mattinson, - This mourvedre from Turkey Flat spent 20 months in French oak puncheons. We have another winning mourvedre here. It's dark berried and earthen, leathery and polished. Spicy, cedary oak makes a delicious contribution and its grainy, assertive, rusty tannin is a highlight. Lovely length. Medium-bodied but almost porty in its ripeness. Beautiful wine to drink even now though it can be cellared with confidence too. Rating: 94 Points
