Majella Coonawarra Shiraz 2010
The Majella Shiraz first appeared in 1991 and has since acquired a reputation as one of Coonawarra's finest Shiraz's.
Dark red in colour with purple hues, the wine is redolent of cinnamon spice with overlays of cedary mocha oak. The palate shows great length, full of plums, cherries, blackberries and vanilla – creamy and sweet! The tannins are quite soft and complement the long, lingering finish. We present it as a great example of Coonawarra Shiraz at its very best.

Black purple colour, and hugely aromatic nose full of lifted fruits, plums and blackberries, with hints of violets and musk, exotic spices, and hints of chocolate, layered and loaded with class. The palate delivers all this, and then some. It is intense but balanced, creamy and seamless showing restrained but high quality oak, mostly French, with layers of luscious flavour, sweet plum and blackberry fruits, hints of earth and final notes of mocha and chocolate. The wine is intense, yet balanced, has simply amazing length, lasts for minutes, and finishes dry with fine tannins. It is delicious now, and will cellar beautifully. Thorn Clark Sandpiper Shiraz 2010
a complex mixture of ripe blackberry and plum fruit with a dash of creamy vanillin oak. The palate is medium to full bodied which starts with some sweet plummy fruit, the flavour then builds in the palate to provide an explosion of raspberry flavours. There is some lovely mouth coating tannins which combine with dark chocolate oak and fruit to provide a great depth and length of flavour.

Savoury and ferrous with black fruit and a bit of chocolate. It’s dry and largely savoury but has a juicy blackberry pastille flavour in the mix. Dry, hot year tannins, offer a bit of grip and chew, but it feels good in the mouth – rugged and authentic. Touch of bitterness on the finish but an all round excellent wine.
