Ripe plums, dark berries, redcurrant and dark cherry, juicy vibrant and alive. The fragrant spicy character of this Shiraz has married well with subtle oak, building an array of toasted spices. Silky and seductive palate, this is seamless Shiraz, elegantly weighted and full of supple juicy dark berry flavour. It's a wine to have on the table with food, beautifully balanced, the super fine tannins driving long through its savoury spicy finish.

Full crimson-purple; co-fermented with a small percentage of viognier, and matured in (roughly) one-third each new, one-year-old and two-year-old high quality French oak. It is a style I have always liked, its supple mouthfeel, generous black fruits and soft tannins coming together with the oak in a harmonious finish. 95 points James Halliday

Bright purple.   Sexy aromas of boysenberry, cherry-vanilla and raspberry preserves, with spicecake and cracked pepper notes adding energy. Juicy, vibrant dark berry flavors show liqueur-like depth and very good back-end lift.   Supple tannins make a late appearance on the finish, which clings with impressive tenacity.   This is pliant and juicy enough to drink now but I'd bet on it being even better in a few years. 93 points Josh Reynolds

Light but bright colour; how much the wine owes to winemaker Peter Schell's skills and how much to the (old) vines doesn't matter, for the wine has great vibrancy and energy to the red berry fruits of its grenache/cinsaut blend. 92 points James Halliday

Deep colour; vivid hue; fresh black fruits, licorice, toasty oak and sappy complexity are all evident on the bouquet; the palate is dark and chewy, but falls short of being ponderous, as the wine progresses at an even and stately pace across the palate; excellent execution indeed. 96 points James Halliday

The result is a brooding, complex wine dripping in dark, aromatic, spicy fruit that sings of the earth from where it came, as well as the toil of those who tended the vines. The 2011 Indy over delivers on every front!!!!!
