The wine has lifted red berry aromas and flavours, complexed by grenache spiciness and given extra back palate astringency by the blending of other more tannic red varieties. It is a mouth-filling wine that may be kept for up to 10 years, but will go nicely with duck, turkey, lamb and gamey meats any time soon.

A simply excellent example of tasty young Tempranillo, with cola, spice and a little bacon bone complexity; the palate is lively and fine, zesty and long, and while easy drinking, has plenty of backbone and structure; trophy Riverina Wine Show. 95 points James Halliday.

The bouquet is full of mocha oak, sarsaparilla and plums; the palate is fleshy, forward, rich and fresh, showing the McLaren Vale side of this variety's personality; generous, but not to a fault, just a lovely drink. 92 points James Halliday

The palate is long and tasty with a tannic finish that is vitally important to balance the wine richness and make it best suited to drinking with food.
Sarsaparilla,  jasmine and lavender, red fruits, crushed black spice and tea leaf with suggestions of turned earth, meat and rocks. Bright but balanced acidity, minimal oak interference and very fine tannin. The architecture is intricate and fascinating.  92 Very Good" Wine Will Eat Itself

All grapes were hand picked; small batch fermented and basket pressed before being blended and matured in old hogsheads. The vibrancy of Graciano is integral to balance the low acidity of Tempranillo and the Mataro adds further depth, structure and savoury qualities. It’s a hedonistic glimpse of McLaren Vale.

The stunning Ébano Crianza is made from 100% Tempranillo, known locally as Tinto del Pais, with an average vine age of 20 years. It has a vibrant purple colour with intense fruit notes of ripe cherries, mulberries and raspberries. The wood is well integrated and keeps alive the earlier fruit as well as adding toasty aromas. Ébano 6 is made from 100% Tempranillo and spends 4 months in French oak. Great fruity structure, powerful finish.

A jam-packed cranberry+field herb nose (red lavender anyone?) is perfectly struck - fresh fruit and earth, lift and depth ... The palate is perfumed, ovoid, lissom, and really harmonious - built beautifully on Telmo's trademark natural fruit tannin-acid twin-track. Juicy and deft, it's not just good and typical, nor merely delicious … this is spectacular wine for the $$

Cranberry, damask rose, pomegranate, cherry juice and cracked dark husky spices (not quite clove, or black pepper) mingle in a beautifully pure Toro red earthiness. A full and velvet-soft fruit palate, sheeted on quality fruit tannin. Medium volume, with spread and reach, never sweet, not heavy nor lumpy. Effortless and lovely.

Price-wise this bats against the standard-issue Koonunga Shiraz; it would be easy to argue that it gives it a fair touch up. Distinctive peanut shell-like aftertaste. Bang on for drinkability. Campbell Mattinson; The Wine Front
Wine of the Week - The economic reality is that many other countries can produce good wines more cheaply than we can in Australia. This is a case in point: a terrific savoury quaffing Spanish red blend that won't break the bank.‘Wine of the Week’ Winsor Dobbin.a good mix between savoury and sweet too, with a .. good deal of Tempranillo to pan out the structure. It’s as generous as a paella pan overflowing with flavour, has a silky red fruit palate and some dried herb character.
